Introduction:

Welcome to the Riddled Corpses EX Trophy Guide!
Shoot down tons of hordes of zombies in this twin-stick shooter while making your way to the final boss and defeat him!

Roadmap:

Step 1: Begin Story Mode with Jon
Right at the beginning of the game, you just have Jon as a playable character. Don’t worry, you are going to die a lot, but you will make practice and upgrade yourself while aiming for the platinum.
Your main objective during this step is to level Jon up to at least level 10 and complete the first stage of the Story Mode.

After that, focus on sparing at least 6000 golds to be able to buy Cleo, the next character, and level her up a bit.

You’ll be earning these trophies:
Bronze First Death
Gold Story Stage 1

Step 2: Clear Stage 2 and 3 of the Story Mode with Cleo
Now it’s time to unlock your next character, Cleo.
You will use Cleo for a lot of your time as her main ability is Magnetic and that allows you to attract every gold on the screen, making the farming a little less long. Remember that you have to pick up powerups, collectibles, and life by yourself tho.

Level her up until she gets to level 20 while trying to complete stage 2 and 3 of the Story Mode.
If you manage to reach Stage 4, keep on grinding gold here as it’s the best level to earn tons of golds.
Your main goal is to unlock the next character (Liery) and level her up a bit, so, again, you will need around 6000 gold in total, but the more gold you earn in this step, the easier next steps will be.
Also, try to unlock the MK 1000 upgrade, which will boost your damage a lot.

During this step you’ll earn these trophies:
Bronze MK 1000 Ready
Gold Story Stage 2
Gold Story Stage 3

Step 3: Keep on grinding gold
Here is where things get boring. This step will be the longest one as you need to grind 9999 of gold to be able to unlock Fael.
Also, you will need to max out all the previous characters (except Jon) to unlock Erika. It’s recommended to max out your MK 1000 too.
Try to unlock turrets too for a trophy and, if you want, upgrade them too.
To “shorten” this step, you can choose between Cleo and Liery as they have good abilities that allow you to collect tons of gold.
You will complete Stage 4 easily but keep on farming on that one as it’s the best spot where to grind gold.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:
Bronze Turrets Ready
Gold Story Stage 4

Step 4: Max out Erika and finish Story Mode
It’s time to finish the Story Mode, but first… Grind gold again to max out Erika and your MK 1000 too if you haven’t done it before.

If you have correctly followed the previous steps, you will unlock these trophies:
All The Way Up
Gold Story Stage 5
Gold Story Completed!
Full Cast

There is a high probability that you will unlock the collectibles-related trophy by normally playing as enemies will drop them randomly and you have to collect them to earn gold too.

Gold Collector

If you haven’t unlocked them already, try to get the three miscellaneous trophies as well to avoid returning on Story Mode later again:

Bronze I Like Them Roasted
Bronze Can You Feel The Tension?
Gold Nothing Special

Step 5: Arcade Mode

This step should be the hardest one of the set as you have to complete the game in one sitting.
Select your favorite character (Erika highly recommended) and make your way through all 6 levels while upgrading yourself throughout them.

Check the Tips and Strategies section of the game for further details.

At the end of this step, you will unlock this trophy:

Gold Arcade Winner

Step 6: Survival Mode

This is the last step and requires you to beat wave 5 in Survival Mode.
Here you can choose the character you want

Story Mode progressions carry over this mode so you will have all maxed out making this step a walk in the park.

At the end of this step, you will unlock this trophy:
Gold Survivor
40-platinum Hardcore Gamer

Tips and Strategies:

This game can be chaotic and confusing due to the multiple enemies/bullets on screen. Don’t panic and don’t worry if you are dying a lot at the beginning. Everything will come naturally by playing and upgrading yourself.
Here some general tips you can use for all modes:

  • Like every twin-stick shooter, keep on moving and dodging as if you stop, you can be easily surrounded by enemies resulting in a fast death;
  • Some enemies will shoot at you. Try to keep a good distance to be able to dodge their bullets;
  • Enemies spawn from coffins or tombstones which can be destroyed BEFORE they spawn;
  •  Use and for the two powerups as it’s easier to trigger them.
  •  Always explode cars and barrels while enemies are near them because they can get insta-killed or burn to their death;
  • Try to fill your combo bar to trigger extra damage. Try to avoid being hit after triggering it and always kill enemies to keep that up. This method can change the sorts of many waves of zombies;
  • Memorize the stages! Learn where and when to use the powerups to avoid wasting them. It’s recommended to not buy them between stages as it’s better to use gold to upgrade yourself. Do it when you have nothing more to upgrade;
  • Items are randomly dropped by enemies but there are some specific spots where you can always find them. Always destroy everything and learn where these items are;
  • Dynamite powerups are useful to destroy enemy bullets too. Try to save a couple of them and use them in boss fights as there will be a lot of bullets on the screen;
  • In Arcade Mode, it’s recommended to use Erika as she has all the abilities and she’s the best for earning gold;
  • In Arcade Mode, ALWAYS collect level powerups as fast as possible as they disappear. If you get hit, you will lose a level but you can and you must recollect it immediately;
  • In Arcade Mode, ALWAYS buy all the powerups you can as they are your best friends, especially in later stages. Remember you can stack 9 of them except for turrets.

Trophy Guide:

Hardcore Gamer
Unlock all trophies in Riddled Corpses EX.
Story Stage 1 Gold
Complete stage 1 in story mode.

Stage 1 is the easiest one. You will surely die at the beginning and it will require some tries and upgrades but it’s not so hard.

There are 4 waves of zombies and a boss fight at the end. Enemies spawn in little groups and they will start shooting at you after clearing wave 2.
Remember to collect the life under the barrel that is set in the upper right corner on wave 4.

The best strategy for the boss fight is to kill the two demons he summons and then focus on him. Remember to save a time-clock powerup and use it for when he transforms (when his life bar is halved).

If you want a video that shows how to do it, check the one in the Gold Arcade Winner trophy description.

Story Stage 2Gold
Complete stage 2 in story mode.

Stage 2 can be tricky as there are electric fences around the area that can damage you. However, try you to use them to survive because enemies can get killed if they touch them. Also, big skulls enemies can be used as a “repair” because if an enemy runs against them, they will die.

There isn’t a specific strategy for the boss fight but the 2 enemies that spawn on its sides are quite annoying so if you want to get rid of them in no time, spare some dynamite powerups for them.

If you want a video that shows how to do it, check the one in the Gold Arcade Winner trophy description.

NOTE: This stage is the only one where you can go for Bronze Can You Feel The Tension? so make sure to get it while repeating the level.

Story Stage 3Gold
Complete stage 3 in story mode.

This is the shortest level of the game as there are only 2 waves and a boss fight at the end but it can be quite frustrating because you are on a motorcycle.

Basically, this is a side-scrolling level and your main goal here is to avoid the electric fences that appear on the street while shooting at the enemies.
Try to always stay on the left side of the screen to have the time to avoid them and quickly take down all the enemies.

The boss fight it’s not hard but he shoots tons of bullets. If you feel that there are too many of them on the screen, use your powerups, and keep on shooting him up.

If you want a video that shows how to do it, check the one in the Gold Arcade Winner trophy description.

Story Stage 4Gold
Complete stage 4 in story mode.

This stage will test your abilities as there are a lot of enemies and there are some lava puddles on the floor that you need to avoid but you can use them at your advantage.

Wave 2 can be the hardest one as there are a lot of enemies. The best strategy is to keep moving and take advantage of the little path on the bottom of the screen. Be aware of the lava puddle tho.
After wave 2, remember to explode the barrel and to collect the extra life in the bottom right corner of the screen.

The boss fight at the end can be a little tricky as he spawns two hands you need to destroy before damaging him.

If you want a video that shows how to do it, check the one in the Gold Arcade Winner trophy description.

NOTES:

  • This level is the best one where to farm gold. When you need some gold, always repeat this level with Cleo, Liery or Erika;
  • You need to pass this level without using powerups for the Gold Nothing Special trophy. It’s recommended to leave this one for later on the game (Check the related trophy description).
Story Stage 5Gold
Complete stage 5 in story mode.

This stage is easier than the previous one but it has a hard part where you need to be fully leveled up.

At the beginning of wave 2, the game always spawns 2 big demons, in addition to the normal zombies, which will shoot at you tons of bullets. If you have some spare gold, buy some upgrades/life just to be sure and you will not have so many troubles.

The boss fight can be cheesed: when he spawns, he summons two big skulls. You can damage the boss even if you don’t kill them, but if you destroy one of them, you will have more space to dodge bullets and you will receive an extra life too upon destruction. After that, you can fire all your bullets to the boss, but before killing him, destroy the other big skull to receive another extra life just in case you need it.

If you want a video that shows how to do it, check the one in the Gold Arcade Winner trophy description.

Story Completed!Gold
Complete stage 6 in story mode.

Stage 6 is strictly related to stage 5 and you need to complete them in a row as you can’t select it from the “stage select”, so if you die, you will need to repeat stage 5 to be able to access to stage 6 again.

Luckily, between the two stages, you can buy powerups and extra lives. It’s recommended to do so because the last boss is a two-phases boss and it shoots at you tons of bullets which you can hardly dodge.

The first phase is the easiest one. There is a big head that spins around a bell jar you need to destroy. He will shoot at you big laser bullets and sometimes he will spawn an orb that creates other bullets. You can avoid them without using powerups but if you need, use time-clock at the most and save your dynamites for the second phase.

When you kill the first boss, the second one will spawn and troubles will begin. If you have a turret, place it in before the beginning of the second phase and always use your dynamites powerups when you feel that there are too many bullets on the screen.  If you want a video that shows how to do it, check the one in the Gold Arcade Winner trophy description.

Arcade WinnerGold
Complete arcade mode.

Here we go. This can be the hardest trophy of the game if you don’t know how to approach this mode.
To get it, you have to select “arcade” from the main menu and finish the game in one sitting.
(Read the Tips and Strategy section of this guide)

All the characters you have unlocked will be available but they will be at level 1.
While playing, you will see a floating orb that spawns every now and then; QUICKLY pick them up as it’s your only opportunity to level up and they can disappear.
Remember that if you get hit you will lose a level but you can recollect it immediately.

The best character you can select while attempting this trophy is Erika due to her abilities. You will need a lot of gold to constantly buy powerups and extra-lives and it’s recommended to restock between each stage.

After beating the last boss of stage 6, the trophy will pop.
Here a useful video that shows how to do it (Credits to SIGIL BREAKER).

SurvivorGold
Survive through 5 waves in survival mode.

Select Survival Mode from the main menu and select the character that suits you the most. Keep in mind that Story Mode progressions carry over this mode, so it’s recommended to select the most leveled up character.

To get this trophy, you need to make your way through 5 waves of zombies and reach wave 6. Enemies don’t get tougher but they will spawn more frequently as you survive.

Keep your combo bar filled to deal more damage and use your powerups to kill/stop the enemies and you will get this trophy in no time.

MK 1000 Ready
Unlock the MK 1000.

The MK 1000 is your best friend through all the game so it’s recommended to level it up at its max. You can unlock it for 9.999 golds.

Turrets Ready
Unlock the turrets.

Turrets can be unlocked for 9.999 golds. Unlike the MK 1000, the turrets can be activated by pressing . They will shoot at the enemies and last for some time, but they are quite useless during the game. If you want to level them up, you can but it’s not necessary.

Full Cast
Unlock all the characters.

To get this trophy, you have to unlock all the available characters of the game.
Here a list and the requirements for unlocking them all:

  • Jon – Available since the beginning of the game;
  • Cleo – Can be purchased for 5.000 golds;
  • Liery – Can be purchased for 5.000 golds;
  • Fael – Can be purchased for 9.999 golds;
  • Erika – you need to have Cleo, Liery, and Fael to max level (20) then you can purchase her for 9.999;
  • Nora – Unlocked after beating Story Mode.
All The Way Up
Upgrade at least 4 characters to max level.

To get this trophy, you need to upgrade 4 characters to max level (20). The best way to achieve this one is to reach Stage 4 to be able to farm tons of gold while leveling up Cleo, Liery, and Fael to unlock Erika, then level her up.

If you want, you can max out Jon before Erika but it’s not recommended as you need Erika for the Full Cast trophy and to unlock her, you need to have Cleo, Liery, and Fael to max level.

I Like Them Roasted
Burn 100 enemies during the same run.

To get this trophy, you need to burn 100 enemies in a single run. The best place where to achieve it is in the first stage as there are a lot of explosive objects you can use to set zombies on fire.
Keep in mind that you need to explode them when there are zombies around them to let them burn.

If you are struggling to get this trophy you can use some time-clock powerups when there are a lot of zombies near an explosive object and then make it explode.

Can You Feel The Tension?
Electrify 30 enemies during the same run.

This trophy can only be achieved in stage 2.
Around the various areas of this stage, you can see some electric fences where you have to attract at least 30 enemies and funnel them in a single run. Be careful that you can take damage from them too, so approach them carefully.

The best strategy to achieve this is to stay behind some electric fences and enemies will chase you without avoiding them.

Nothing SpecialGold
Complete stage 4 in story mode without using any special item.

This trophy is easily achieved when you have a maxed-out MK 1000 and Erika to level 20  too.
Before attempting this trophy, make sure to have some spare gold to buy a full stock of life.
Don’t buy any powerups as you can’t use them.

Here a video that shows how to do it (Credits to Kishnabe):

First Death
Die in any mode.

This trophy will pop for sure at the beginning of the game as it’s nearly impossible to beat the first stage with a Level 1 Jon.

CollectorGold
Get at least one of each collectible item.

You will get this trophy without even trying. Zombies will casually drop some heads upon death and you will need to pick them up to receive some extra gold.

These small heads are the collectibles required for this trophy. There are 10 in total and you will for sure collect them all before completing the game.
You can see which one you have collected, in the upgrade section of the game.
