Introduction:
Welcome to the Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide!
Take control of Leon S Kennedy once again, as you go to a quaint little village, looking for the president’s daughter. But nothing is as it seems in this survival horror classic!
Roadmap:
Step 1: Beat the game
In the basic fashion of any game, the first step will be to beat it! There are only three missable trophies in the game. Ones a boss you can insta-kill with a rocket launcher, one is a minigame, and one is a funny death. I suggest doing them all regardless, as they two give you a good amount of money, and one gets you gobbled up! After this step, you’ll only need two trophies. Yes, I’m serious.
You’ll be earning these trophies: It Begins With A Ring
Do Not Shoot The Water!
A Rock And A Hard Place
Secure The Ballistics
A Bloodline Severed
A Terrifying Assassin
The Castellan Falls
The Ties That Bind
We’re Going Home
What Are They Worth?
Step 2: Ada’s Campaign
To get the costume that will help immensely on Professional, we’re gonna play Ada’s campaign, Separate Ways. To get to it, you have to go into the “Extra” menu on the main menu, and select it. This took me about 5 hours to get through, and I found it to be a touch harder than Leon’s campaign. But afterward, you get a trophy!
During this step you’ll earn these trophies: The S Stands For Stylish
Step 3: Professional
Now this is where the “fun” begins. The game is the exact way it was on Normal, except bosses take a bit more damage, enemies deal out a bit more damage, and Leon can’t get the Tactical Vest at the end of the game to reduce damage. You also have to start a brand new game. No NG+ for you! I recommend using Costume Set 2 though, as it makes Ashely invulnerable! Just play smart, and be safe, and read some tips, and you’ll be okay! I hope….either way, after this step, the 100% is yours!
During this step you’ll earn the following trophies: A Heart Of Steel
Trophy Guide:
![]() ![]() Ring the mysterious bell. What happens after that, is up to you. |
At the beginning of the game, you’ll come across a village. This is the first big fight area. There’s a building you can go into with a shotgun, but I advise against it, as it’ll spawn a chainsaw-wielding enemy, and they’re hard to kill. Circle the map, keeping the enemies together. Shoot an enemy in the head, then run up to them and press Square to kick them. This will hopefully knock down some enemies and kill one or two. After a while, more enemies will spawn. If you start taking too much damage, or there are too many enemies, run into the building. Get the shotgun, and aim for the head. If you kill enough enemies beforehand, and survived long enough, when you exit the building roof, a cutscene will happen, and the enemies will leave, totally avoiding the chainsaw enemy altogether!
![]() ![]() Summon the master of the lake. Don’t rock the boat. |
Missable
In Chapter 1-3, you’ll reach a point where you have to get on a little boat in a lake. Before you get on the boat, shoot the water like crazy until you get this trophy….and become fish food.
![]() ![]() Outmaneuver the rampaging beast, El Gigante. |
In Chapter 2-1 you end up fighting “El Gigante”! To be able to kill him, you have to destroy the parasite on his back. To do that, you have to shoot him in the face, to down him. Try to not use the sniper to down him, as by the time you can move again, you’ll probably be squished. Then run up to him, hit square to jump on him, then mash X to cut. On the final time to cut the boss, you end up having to hit square.
![]() ![]() Rescue the president’s daughter, Ashley. Afterwards, the real fun begins. |
At the end of Chapter 2-1, you’ll end up rescuing Ashley and getting this trophy!
![]() ![]() Defeat the village chief in battle. |
In Chapter 2-3, you’ll end up fighting the Village Chief inside a burning barn. This fight can be sort of easy, or hard, depending on your strategy. When he’s in his first form, run from one side of the barn, to the other, and take a shot with your sniper. By the time you can move, he should be right on top of you. So run to the other side, then shoot him, and he’ll rush back to you. Then run back to the other side, and shoot him, and rinse and repeat. Then in his second phase, he’ll jump around the rafters, hitting you with his tentacles, and he has a lot of range with these. Take pop shots with your pistol when he’s up high, but never be close to him, when he’s on the lower rafters. On Normal, if you hit him with a shotgun blast, he’ll get knocked down and be running around on the ground. On Hard it’s harder to knock him off the rafters. When he’s dead, this trophy is yours.
![]() ![]() Turn the tables on Verdugo, the right hand of Salazar. |
Missable
If you do not have a lot of Magnum/Shotgun/Sniper ammo, I don’t recommend trying this trophy. At the end of 4-1, you have to wait for an elevator to start. During this process, you get attacked by Salazar’s right hand bug man. There are 4 cans of liquid nitrogen. One in the elevator room, one in a side room, one in the hallway, and one in the power room. When you see the bug, you have to knock over the can and freeze the bug, then just put everything you have into him. When you kill him, he explodes. If you have a Rocket Launcher, you could always kill him with one shot when he’s frozen!
![]() ![]() Defeat Salazar, and make your escape from the castle. |
This boss is easy or hard, depending on how you handle it. For the hard way, you have to shoot the boss in the eye, until Salazar gets revealed. Then switch to your sniper and hit him when you can. Then rinse and repeat, while avoiding tentacles. If the head shows teeth, run, as it’s an insta-kill move.
The easy way is simple. Get a rocket launcher. Go into the fight, blast the eye until Salazar gets revealed, then switch to the Launcher and shoot it at him! Either way, when he’s dead, the trophy is yours!
![]() ![]() Defeat Krauser, your former partner, in battle. |
This fight consists of two portions technically. First, you have to run around an area, finding pieces of a door lock, while avoiding Krauser. There are two specific sections where you have to fight him off. One is at a locked door in the first room with a ladder, and the second is when you get the first emblem piece. When fighting him without the timer, just walk backwards, as when he swipes his knife, he’ll miss, and you can get a shotgun blast in! Then during the actual fight, he does a lot of attacks that require QTEs to dodge. I highly recommend you have a fully upgraded magnum, and quite a bit of ammo for it as well. First, you have to shoot his feet, making him stumble, then you can put a few bullets into his body. When you aim at him, sometimes he dashes away from your gun. Unfortunately, you have to be smart about your shots, because without the magnum, he can take quite a bit of damage. After he dies, you get this trophy, and the last door piece. Now here’s hoping you get out of the room before it all gets blown to hell.
![]() ![]() Defeat Saddler in battle, and escape from the nightmare. |
Compared to the Krauser this boss fight is very easy so long as you have a couple shotgun shells and Magnum bullets. There are 2 explosive barrels in the arena as well. Leave them alone until you’ve damaged the boss twice. The boss will have eyes on all of his legs. Use a shotgun blast on one of them to make his big mouth eye pop out, and switch to the magnum to hurt him. When the leg eyes are destroyed, that you can see, then use the explosive barrels on him when he’s next to them. If he’s still not dead, there are switches at each end of the arena that hit him with steel girders when he’s next to the ladder in front of you. Eventually, you have a rocket launcher tossed for you. Pick it up, and shoot it at the boss, and win!
![]() ![]() Clear the game on the highest difficulty. |
For this trophy, you have to at least beat the game once, which in turn unlocks Professional. Now the way the game works on normal, is the better you play, the harder the game. So if you played well, this will be literally no different. The only real difference you see is that you take more damage. Health items, ammo, and money are just as abundant. The bosses do take a bit more of a beating though. But the only boss you really have to fight is the Village Chief. The rest, you’ll have access to buying a rocket launcher and insta-kill them! When you see your results and the new superweapon added to the stores, the trophy will unlock! Below are some tips that you could find useful!
- Use Costume Set 2! This will give Ashley a set of armor, making her literally invulnerable! Enemies try and pick her up and they fall over. In Chapter 4, when you have to play as Ashley, you can pass her QTEs without doing them, because SHE CAN’T DIE!
- Always try to find a ladder where you can make enemies come up it, and not around you, then knife them off. It’ll take a while to kill them, but you save ammo.
- On the topic of saving ammo! Headshot enemies, then run to them and hit square to kick them, them knife the hell out of them while they’re on the ground!
- Don’t use any Magnum ammo until you reach Krauser and Saddler!
- If you find you used too many health items or ammo in a section, don’t be afraid to hit options, and restart a checkpoint.
- Don’t bother upgrading any stats besides power early on! Wait until you have the Red9, Striker, and Semi-Auto sniper to upgrade them fully!
- Rotating save files is a must, just in case you mess up. You have 20 save slots. Use them!
![]() ![]() Acquire all of the bottle caps in the game. |
Missable
To be able to get the Bottle caps, you have to find the shooting galleries. When you find them, you then have to get 6 bottle caps at every range. To get them all, you need to get above 3,000 & 4,000 points, multiple times. There’s 5 caps for reaching 3,000 points and 1 cap for reaching 4,000 in each gallery. The easiest weapon I found for the galleries is the pistol, which is under the “sniping category”. When you hit a certain amount of targets without missing, you’ll get a bonus target all the way in the back that gives you 500 points! These are essential for getting 4,000 points! You also want to destroy the targets with headshots for extra points! You can find the galleries at the end of 3-1, right beside the merchant. In 4-1, after you take the second train car, and you find the merchant after stepping off. The third gallery is at the beginning of 4-2. Finally, the last gallery is located in 5-1! After you get all 6 caps, on all 4 modes, you get this trophy!
![]() ![]() Acquire all of the costumes in the game. |
In order to get this, you have to unlock all the costumes in the game. Luckily to do that, you just have to beat the game, then beat Ada’s campaign “Separate Ways”. I found this side story to be a little difficult honestly, as Ada’s weapons just feel so weak, and she can only take a few hits before she dies. If there’s one thing I recommend, it’s never using the Bowgun until you fight Krauser and Saddler at the end. Just stock up on all the ammo you need. Try and also look for ladders, then just knife enemies off of them, until they finally die!
