Introduction:
Welcome to the Overcooked 2 – Night of the Hangry Horde DLC Trophy Guide!
In the third paid DLC for Overcooked 2, players head off to a spooky setting, where they must hold off the Unbread once again with an entirely new type of level, while also facing arguably the hardest trophy in the game!
Roadmap:
Step 1: Complete all Normal Levels With 3 Stars
As with the base game and the other DLC’s, your main goal is to complete all the traditional levels with 3 stars. Once again, Kevin levels are thankfully not required.
You’ll be earning these trophies: Get Roasted
Pie Me a River
Wrap Artist
Star Braiser
Step 2: Complete all Horde Levels With Full Kitchen Health
Now for one of the hardest tasks in the entire game, perfecting the eight “horde” kitchens!
During this step you’ll earn these trophies: You Shallot Pass!
Step 3: Miscellaneous Trophies
With all the difficult parts of this DLC complete, you will now need to grind out a couple of miscellaneous trophies relating to the new cooking and chopping mechanics.
During this step you’ll earn the following trophies: Coal of Duty
Heads Will Roll
Tips and Strategies:
The third paid DLC for Overcooked 2 has arrived, bringing with it new recipes, gimmicks, and a brand new type of level. Despite the efforts of the player and the Onion King, the Unbread have managed to return, and are hangrier than ever. The King tasks his chefs with stopping them for a second time.
Hangry Horde is a definite step up from the main game and most of the levels from the first two DLCs, containing quite a few more levels and three new dishes, all of which have many potential combinations of ingredients. The new horde levels can prove to be quite challenging at times, and a few of the normal levels will definitely test your skill and patience.
The DLC is accessed from the “Extras” tab on the main menu, bringing the player to a new world map.
Dishes
This DLC contains a lot of the old recipes, and introduces three new ones with numerous combinations. Unlike the other DLCs, there is no trophy for serving every type of meal.
- Plain Burger: chop and cook a steak, combine with a bun.
- Cheese Burger: same as the plain burger but add a chopped piece of cheese.
- Lettuce Cheese Burger: same as the cheese burger but add a chopped lettuce.
- Works Burger: same as the plain burger but add a chopped lettuce and chopped tomato.
- Cheese Pizza: chop dough, cheese, and a tomato, then combine and cook in a pizza oven.
- Sausage Pizza: same as the cheese pizza but add a chopped sausage.
- Steak Burrito: combine a tortilla with cooked rice and a chopped + cooked steak.
- Chicken Burrito: combine a tortilla with cooked rice and a chopped + cooked chicken.
- Mushroom Burrito: combine a tortilla with cooked rice and a chopped + cooked mushroom.
- Sauce Pasta: cook pasta in a pot and combine with a chopped and cooked tomato.
- Mushroom Pasta: cook pasta in a pot and combine with a chopped and cooked mushroom.
- Meat Pasta: cook pasta in a pot and combine with a chopped and cooked steak.
- Fishy Pasta: cook pasta in a pot and combine with both a fish and shrimp, chopped and cooked.
- Fruit Pies (new): combine a flour, egg, and the one or two indicated, chopped fruits into a blender, then cook in an oven. The available fruits are cherries, apples, and grapes.
- Soups (new): chop the three indicated ingredients and cook together in a pot. There are six potential ingredients that can be used in soups: cheese, broccoli, celery, onion, potato, and carrot. Do note that every soup will contain an onion.
- Roast Dinners (new): place a roast or a chicken (neither has to be chopped) into an oven with a chopped potato and chopped carrot. Some dinners will also include a chopped broccoli, but they will all contain a meat, potato, and carrot.
Trophy Guide:
![]() ![]() Survive all horde stages in Night of the Hangry Horde with full kitchen health |
Horde levels are an entirely new type of level exclusive to this DLC and the free, trophy-less Festive Seasoning packs. In each horde level, you will be presented with a health bar at the bottom of the screen and a number of windows around the kitchen, as well as a set number of waves to complete instead of a timer. During each wave, a number of Unbread will attempt to break through the windows, and can only be repelled by serving them some food (how and why sentient bread must eat other food that sometimes includes bread is a mystery).
Once an Unbread reaches a window, they will try to break it down, and if you don’t serve them fast enough, they will break all the boards and begin to damage the kitchen. You can repair the windows by holding , but each piece you repair will cost you points, earned by serving dishes. Think COD Zombies, except you have to pay to repair the barriers. If you are playing solo, you need 2 points for every bit of repair. In 2 player, you will spend 5 points per repair. If the health bar at the bottom reaches 0, you will fail the level. But for this trophy, you need to finish each horde level with the kitchen still at 100% health.
This is possibly the hardest individual trophy in the entire game, especially if you are playing some of the later levels in co-op. The first three hordes are rather short and simple, but the difficulty begins to increase with the fourth, fifth, and sixth hordes. The final two hordes are quite challenging and time consuming, and require a lot of concentration and planning to get through.
There are three different enemy types to deal with in these levels:
- Standard Unbread: sentient slices of bread and baguettes that move at normal speed and do medium levels of damage.
- Peppers: peppers do the least damage of the three enemy types, but they deal their damage the fastest.
- Zombie Apples: apples move and attack the slowest of the three, but do much higher damage to the boards and the kitchen. Additionally, they require two meals to defeat.
So, when it comes to dealing with the three different enemy types, you should always focus on the peppers and apples first. While apples take two meals to defeat, the first meal you give them will still give you points.
Another feature seen on some of the horde levels is the unlockable gate. These gates will cost a set number of points to open, and often provide a very useful shortcut between different sections of the kitchen. It is up to you as to whether or not the improved layout from opening gates is worth the point investment.
For these levels, you need to stockpile as many ingredients as you can during down time, such as when there is only one enemy to feed, or between waves. You may have to serve as many as 20-30 meals in the later kitchens, which can last well over 10 minutes. This is pretty much an endurance challenge, with players having to keep up a high level of service for longer periods of time. The main saving grace is that most of the dishes you serve aren’t overly complicated. That being said, some runs may end up getting ruined purely because of a bad series of 4 ingredient orders for peppers and apples, simply running you out of time or points for repairs.
Below is a table detailing each kitchen, the dishes served, and any gimmicks to worry about.
Level | Waves | # Of Windows | Dishes | Gimmicks |
---|---|---|---|---|
Horde 1 | 3 | 2 | Plain Burger Cheeseburger Lettuce Cheeseburger | The horde level tutorial, featuring only two windows and three short waves, no other gimmicks or challenges to worry about. |
Horde 2 | 4 | 3 | Cheese Pizza Sausage Pizza | Another pretty simple kitchen with a central counter separating the two sides, with the ingredients, plates, and ovens on the bottom and the sink and windows on the top. |
Horde 3 | 4 | 3 | Meat Pasta Mushroom Pasta | The kitchen is divided into two halves with a gap in the middle and a walkway connecting them that moves every 30ish seconds. The dishes are still very simple. |
Horde 4 | 5 | 4 | All Burritos | Introduces the Peppers as an enemy type. Otherwise the two horizontal counters containing the burners and ingredients will shift left and right every 30 seconds. As long as you can handle the Peppers you shouldn’t have many issues. |
Horde 5 | 5 | 4 | All Burgers | The first horde level to contain an unlockable gate, which costs 100 points. The only real difficulty comes from the layout, as you will have to dash all the way around the central wall to reach the cutting boards until you buy the gate. |
Horde 6 | 5 | 4 | All Pastas | Introduces the Zombie Apples as an enemy type. Otherwise the central platform containing most of the ingredients and the sink will rotate counter-clockwise pretty often. The amount of counter space is also pretty limited. Focus on feeding the Peppers and Apples first. Most of the pasta dishes are only two ingredients, with the exception of the one with both shrimp and fish. Always have pasta cooking and chop extra ingredients between waves. |
Horde 7 | 6 | 5 | All Burritos | Throws all the enemy types at you at once with somewhat limited cooking space and burners. Though there are a lot of waves and windows, the orders aren’t overly complicated. The gate is pretty unnecessary as long as you feed the apples and peppers first. |
Horde 8 | 6 | 5 | All Pizzas | This is the ultimate challenge for the DLC. There are a ton of enemies on this level that appear at five different windows, and a lot of them are peppers and apples. Counter space is limited, and the cutting boards are very separated from the rest of the kitchen. At any point where there is a bit of down time, all players should be chopping ingredients or washing dishes. Getting the two gates open makes this a lot easier, but this costs quite a few points. At the start of each wave, consider holding off on feeding any standard Unbread and save any prepared pizzas and ingredients for the tougher enemies. This level is quite a bit easier solo since you only need 40% as many points per repair. |

![]() ![]() Get 3 stars on all Night of the Hangry Horde levels with a star rating |
This trophy will be unlocked upon getting three stars in each of the 9 normal levels in the DLC. The eight horde levels are tied to an entirely different trophy. See the trophies below for more information about each world.
World 1: Get Roasted.
World 2: Pie Me a River.
World 3: Wrap Artist.
See the Tips and Strategies section for some helpful information, tips, and tricks on obtaining high scores and 3 stars in all levels.
![]() ![]() Get 3 stars on every level in Night of the Hangry Horde World 1 |
For this trophy, you will need to earn three stars in each of the three standard (star) levels of Hangry Horde World 1. This world heavily serves as a tutorial to the new mechanics of this DLC and shouldn’t present many problems to experienced Overcooked players. The lone exception to this rule is level 1-3, as the score requirement in co-op is ridiculously high for the kitchen’s layout. It is highly recommended to do this level solo, as the score is significantly easier.
Below you will find a table of the scores needed to get 3 stars on every level in solo or 2 player mode. If you are playing with 3 or 4 players, the scores will be even higher, and the kitchens can become more crowded and confusing.
Note: you do not have to do the Kevin levels to earn any of the DLC trophies. To unlock Kevin 1, you will need to get a five meal combo on level 1-2, which will probably come naturally while getting 3 stars.
Level | Solo | 2 Player | Dishes | Gimmicks |
---|---|---|---|---|
1-1 | 540 | 840 | Soup | Introduces the new soup recipes and the Guillotine for chopping, otherwise no gimmicks. |
1-2 | 460 | 840 | Roast Dinners | Introduces the new roast dinner recipes and the Coal Furnace as a new cooking method, otherwise no real gimmicks. |
1-3 | 260 | 1000 | Roast Dinners | A switch in the middle must be used to move the platforms with the ingredients and cooking boards, with only one half of the kitchen having access at any given time. |
Kevin 1 | 440 | 640 | N/A | A button on each half of the kitchen is used to raise one half while lowering the other, with a counter in the middle to transfer non-throwable items. |
Here is a link to a playlist from MixarThe of two players obtaining four stars on every level in the DLC. You only need to get 3 stars, so you can move a little slower or make an occasional mistake and still succeed.
![]() ![]() Get 3 stars on every level in Night of the Hangry Horde World 2 |
For this trophy, you will need to earn three stars in each of the three standard (star) levels of Hangry Horde World 2. While the new fruit pie recipe can be a bit complicated, and the scores (especially 2-3) are kind of high, these levels aren’t too gimmicky, so with a bit of practice and patience you should be able to clear all of them in a few tries.
To unlock Kevin 2, you will need to get a score of 500 in solo or 800 in co-op on level 2-2, which will be achieved automatically when you get 3 stars.
Level | Solo | 2 Player | Dishes | Gimmicks |
---|---|---|---|---|
2-1 | 480 | 800 | Burritos | The kitchen has two sections with a central counter that can only be accessed by a wooden platform. The levers on each side move the platform. If the character on the right just stockpiles lots of rice and tortillas the score is pretty easy to get. |
2-2 | 600 | 840 | Fruit Pies | The kitchen is divided into four quadrants containing different ingredients and cooking utensils. You will have to chop with the guillotine. The two sides are connected by a wooden platform that is moved with the levers on each side. |
2-3 | 520 | 940 | Fruit Pies | The four horizontal counters will move left and right at approximately 30 second intervals. Additionally the score is a bit high. |
Kevin 2 | 480 | 680 | N/A | There are two platforms with limited counter space controlled by joysticks. Only one platform is able to access the steamers and delivery window, while the other platform can reach the blenders and sink. |

![]() ![]() Get 3 stars on every level in Night of the Hangry Horde World 3 |
For this trophy, you will need to earn three stars in each of the three standard (star) levels of Hangry Horde World 3. The first kitchen is fairly easy, and the second kitchen has a low score but annoying layout where falling off just once can easily ruin your run. As for 3-3, it is going to be easier for most players to do this one solo due to the low score.
To unlock Kevin 3, you will need to get a seven meal combo in solo or an eight meal combo in co-op on level 3-2. You will most likely need this high of a combo in co-op to get 3 stars.
Level | Solo | 2 Player | Dishes | Gimmicks |
---|---|---|---|---|
3-1 | 540 | 900 | Burritos | The two horizontal platforms containing the six burners and most of the ingredients shift left and right every 20-30 seconds. |
3-2 | 280 | 540 | Soup | The kitchen is divided into four islands, connected by wooden bridges. Hitting the levers in the upper left or bottom right quadrants will switch the bridges. |
3-3 | 360 | 700 | Roast Dinners | The kitchen has two raised sections and one lower all connected by portals. Requires a lot of running from one side to the other but not overly complicated otherwise. |
Kevin 3 | 360 | 740 | N/A | There are four elevator platforms that must be used to reach the blenders, cutting boards, steamers, and sink. |

![]() ![]() Burn 300 buckets of coal in the furnace |
Night of the Hangry Horde introduces a new type of cooking method, the coal powered furnace, first seen in level 1-2. While the furnaces will cook food regardless of whether they have coal, they will cook extremely slowly when not powered. In order to cook a lot faster, you will need to pick up buckets, fill them with coal, and then dump that coal in the main furnace.
It is extremely unlikely that you will have burned 300 buckets of coal by the time you have finished all the levels in this DLC. Thankfully, this trophy can be farmed fairly easily. Simply go into any level with coal buckets (such as 1-2) and spend the entire time burning buckets of coal. You can usually burn at least 50 buckets per round on timed levels, so it shouldn’t take more than five or six rounds to unlock this trophy.
![]() ![]() Chop 500 ingredients using the guillotine |
The guillotine is a new, arguably faster method of chopping vegetables, introduced in the very first level of the DLC. To use the guillotine, place unchopped food under the blade (each device has two spots for placing food) and then hit a button. The location of the button will depend on the level, and is often in a somewhat inconvenient spot. Other levels may have multiple guillotines that each require their own button to use. Also, you have to remove chopped vegetables for the devices to work.
It is pretty unlikely that you will have managed to chop 500 items by the time you finish everything else in the DLC. To grind out the remaining uses, load up level 1-1 and fill all the guillotines with ingredients. Chop them, throw them somewhere else, rinse and repeat until the trophy unlocks.
