Welcome back to another team talk, where we share some stories, good and bad, and share our deepest and darkest gaming secrets (sometimes at least). This week it’s the release of the long-awaited “It Takes Two” From EA, and it’s a game that is primarily based on playing with another person. So what are some of Our Favorite VideoGame Duo’s?
Dex Fragg – Founder
There is for sure no better duo than Ratchet and Clank. The heroes of the galaxy have saved the universe so many times now and they are still together (other than the spin-off Agent Clank). I’ve really grown up with them when I was a kid and would play the new games almost right away when they came out. Ratchet and Clank 2 is still my favorite Playstation 2 after all these years.
That being said get Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on June 11th! it’s for sure gonna be a system seller and for me probably game of the year.
Esstee – Guide Writer
Welp I’m gonna have to opt for the game that gives me the mad feels, the double female pairing loved by many gamer girls young and old, Max & Chloe! From Life Is Strange. There arn’t many games that portray misfit teenage girls lives quite as perfectly as this. The behaviours, actions, feelings, are so relatable for so many of us, that every beautiful or difficult scene resonates, for me I love being taken right back there, to that age living that life again, reminiscing, for others younger it must be both captivating and comforting to see characters going through these same experiences right there and now with you. Despite your age, this game and it’s protagonists and story will really hit you in the heart. You can’t help but love the special bond so clear between this duo. It is completely understandable why this unique narrative game remains a favourite for so many. And yea surprisingly even some guys really enjoy it too, which is nice!
I wanna do a shout-out for a controversial choice… But one I do so deeply love… Abby & Lev, from The Last of Us Part II. Abby may be hated by a lot of you.. But for those of us the other side, boy do we love her. And Lev is just the perfect little bundle of diverse awesomeness to pair her with. I’m so on board with everything about this pair, strength, determination, resilience, heart. And I’m so involved with this power pair that I must admit, it is their final scene -I won’t do spoilers but ya know, where it aint lookin good..- that really got me, and is the scene that really made my eyes leak! Mad feels and mad love for these guys <3
Oniwalker – Guide Writer and Reviewer
Some duos work perfectly well with each other. Peanut Butter and Jam. Ham and Cheese. Strawberries and Bananas. All amazing duos that everyone should love. In the videogame verse, we have some of these too. Some are great and others are…. well, they’re there. But a duo we haven’t seen in so long, is Jak and Daxter!
These two were fantastic. They were originally best friends to begin with, so it helped their companionship be even funnier than it should’ve been. Daxter got pushed into a pool and Dark Eco, which transformed him into an Ottsel, the furry little creature we all know and love! So he hangs off Jaks shoulder in all of the games, and is small enough to get himself into a lot of weird situations, which always end up giving a good laugh! Plus the two riff off each other a lot, with insults, and jokes, and camaraderie that hasn’t been so well done in games in so long! If only we could have them back
