Welcome to the Max & The Book of Chaos Trophy Guide! Developed by Orenji Games & published by Jandusoft; Max & The Book of Chaos “is an arcade 2D action game with elements of run and gun and shoot ´em up classic videogames. The game also offers mechanics of upgrading equipment and some features for Max. And all of this mixed with and interesting and funny story to create a unique narrative lore with a cool cartoon graphic style.“
This is an extremely frustrating game at times, but overall was a blast to play. The simple mechanics made it great fun whilst playing and was even challenging in some areas. Can you rescue your classmates!
Roadmap:
Step 1: Play the Tutorial & First 3 Areas Each of the first 3 areas after the Tutorial has 6 levels within including a “Boss Fight” that comes available after collecting 10 Stars. You do not need to complete all levels within in order to progress to the next area, as it will unlock after defeating the boss, however you may wish to complete more to see if you can boost your star count. Your goal is to save your Classmates within each level to try and obtain the 3 Stars. You will only need to 3 Star one level, so there is no real need to push yourself too hard once you have Perfect Level, but you will need to keep in mind that you require 10 Stars in each area to unlock the Boss Battles, so collecting 25 Stars for Purchase 2 Special Items will come naturally as you play through.
As you progress you will need to collect as many coins as possible to enable you to purchase Weapons & Skins to obtain Purchase 2 Weapon Upgrades& Purchase 2 Skins, as upgrading your character and weapons will make the last 2 levels easier. You will need 1,800 coins total for these 2 trophies.

Step 2: Beat The Last 2 Levels The last 2 areas are purely Boss Fights, so there is no need to do anything other than beating the bosses in these – Feel free to check out the videos in the individual trophy descriptions.
During this step you’ll earn these trophies: The Disclosure Stairway to Death
Step 3: Grind Coins This may not be needed, however if you need to grind out some coins before advancing then you may be best to use Level 3 within “Little Invaders” as it is a fairly quick level with a good coin count.

The Beginning Complete the tutorial
The tutorial is exactly what it suggests; this is where you learn the mechanics, controls and what is required for you to complete the game. You can press to speed up the dialogue.
Little Invaders Complete “Little Invaders” chapter
Available in World 1 and is unlocked when 10 Stars obtained from within.
Once you have reached 10 Stars within this world there is no more need to do any of the other levels and you can proceed directly to the Boss Fight.
All you will need to do is keep shooting it in the face whilst avoiding its Hand Slaps, Dropping Bombs & Lasers. At certain points when you lower the energy you will be joined in the fight by other creatures that you will also need to kill.
Available in World 2 and is unlocked when 10 Stars obtained from within.
Once you have reached 10 Stars within this world there is no more need to do any of the other levels and you can proceed directly to the Boss Fight.
The Boss here has 4 different attacks that are represented by the colour of the force field around it –
Blue will signal a lightening bold attack,
Purple will signal an attack where the tables surrounding it will make a larger circle to try and damage you
Yellow will single a teleportation attack,
Red didn’t really seem to signal any sort of attack…..
Hell’s Kitchen Complete “Hell’s Kitchen” chapter
Available in World 3 and is unlocked when 10 Stars obtained from within.
You need to complete the first 5 levels within this area for Defeat Living Oven, so hopefully you will have obtained at least 10 stars by the time you have done so, then you can proceed directly to the Boss Fight.
The Chef is defeated by exploding the barrels whilst the chef is in the vicinity of them. You will of course be joined in the fight by other enemies, but your primary objective is to dodge attacks and explode the barrels.
The Disclosure Complete “The Disclosure” chapter
There are 2 Stages to this boss fight, so spoilers if you think you think it will be over as soon as the first boss is dead…. Do not fret though as progress will be saved once beating the first Boss and you will enter the battle on the second Boss if you die there.
During the first stage you will need to shoot the bat like boss whilst avoiding some fireballs, moving out the way of the bookcases that will come sliding out towards you & watching out for the laser beam that comes from the pendant on the wall in the background.
After a bit of dialogue, you will enter the second phase of the fight where you square off against the Principal. This fight is remarkably like the others that you have already gone through, where there will be fireballs, lasers & teleportation attacks to deal with.
Remember to collect those power ups when they appear, and you should have no trouble finishing this. If you do struggle you can also go back to some previous levels/areas to grind out some additional coins and possibly gains some more stars to purchase a different Special Upgrade that may be more effective for you.
Stairway to Death Complete “Stairway to Death” chapter
To reach the battle areas you will need to progress up forever evolving platforming section whilst avoiding lightning strikes, so be sure to not stand on the spot for too long, as you will get hit by the lightening. Once you reach the battle areas the Book is not too difficult to kill, albeit a little bit time consuming; just keep shooting it whilst killing the other enemies that appear on screen. You will need to repeat a platforming part 3 times total before the Book is finally killed and you reach the end of the game.
Like the previous fight the game will save your area should you die. Just do not go back to the title screen and you will start off where you died.
Perfect Level Unlock a level with 3 stars
Pretty straight forward and should be obtained within the very first level post the tutorial.
You will need to save all 3 groups of your trapped classmates before the timer runs out, whilst staying alive. All coins collected will be stored after finishing a level.
Within the “Shop” you could purchase some upgrades for your weapons. Each one costs 300 coins and have a variety of usefulness too them depending on your preferred way of tackling each level.
Have a look at the below and decide what are the best 2 for you! Personally, I would recommend the first 2 boxes.
It is also worth pointing out that if you want to grind out some coins before advancing then you may be best to use Level 3 within “Little Invaders” as it is a fairly quick level with a good coin count. Also remember that the level must be beaten for the coins to be pocketed.
Purchase 2 Special Items Purchase 2 special items
Within the “Shop” you could purchase some Special Items. Each one costs 15 stars and have a variety of usefulness too them depending on your preferred way of tackling each level.
Have a look at the below and decide what are the best 2 for you! Personally, I would recommend the 3rd & 4th upgrades as these give you a Super Dash (Invulnerable whilst dashing) &/or an additional health potion.
Purchase 2 Skins Purchase 2 skins
Within the “Shop” you could purchase some Skins. Each one costs 600 coins and have a variety of usefulness too them depending on your preferred way of tackling each level.
Have a look at the below and decide what are the best 2 for you! Personally, I would recommend the first 2 Skins as this give you more agility/larger dash &/or more powerups.
It is also worth pointing out that if you want to grind out some coins before advancing then you may be best to use Level 3 within “Little Invaders” as it is a fairly quick level with a good coin count. Also remember that the level must be beaten for the coins to be pocketed.
Defeat Giant Flambido Defeat the Giant Flambido
Obtained within World 1 (“Little Invaders”) Level 4.
The main attack of this enemy is purely from bouncing across the screen. You will need to time it right to run under when bounces up. As this is during a level you must defeat it prior to the timer running out.
Remember that you will need to try and free your classmates as you are taking it out for those stars.
Defeat Giant Toad Defeat the Giant Toad
Obtained within World 2 (“Nocturnal Experiments”) Level 4.
The Giant Toad will teleport between spaces in the area whilst you are trying to shoot it. You will also be joined in the fight by some smaller toads that will be looking to kill you. As you progress through the fight Toad will introduce some electric energy balls onto the screen which you will need to avoid.
Remember that you will need to try and free your classmates as you are taking it out for those stars.
Defeat Living Oven Defeat the Living Oven
Obtained within World 3 (“Hell’s Kitchen”) Level 5.
What a strange thing this is to defeat. The Living Oven will appear on the screen and pretty much pin you into a corner and try to overrun you with enemies. You will need to survive these enemies, as well as shooting the Oven itself. Be sure to keep an eye on where the green target is, as this will be the most difficult thing to dodge through the whole experience.
You may already have enough stars in this area to head onto Hell’s Kitchen, however you will also have the opportunity within this level to earn more stars.
Rescue a classmate Rescue a classmate
Obtained when you successfully save you first classmate in the very first level after the tutorial.
All you need to do is destroy the glass box they are contained in by shooting it with the / . Once the box is destroyed and they are free the trophy will be yours.
Perfect Level, but you will need to keep in mind that you require 10 Stars in each area to unlock the Boss Battles, so collecting 25 Stars for 
Purchase 2 Special Items will come naturally as you play through.
