Introduction:
Welcome to the Inertial Drift Trophy Guide!
An innovative twin-stick racing game where you have to keep on drifting to master all the vehicles. Be ready for a true challenge!
Roadmap:
Step 1: Tutorial, Story Modes, and Perfectionist
During this step, you will learn the basics of the game and approach yourself into the 4 Story Modes.
It’s recommended to ALWAYS read the dialogues between the characters as you will keep learning how to drive and drift better with harder cars.
There are 4 Story Modes and each one has an increased difficulty level. It’s recommended to proceed in this order:
- Edward’s Story;
- Ada’s Story;
- Ibba’s Story;
- Viv’s Story.
Remember that there’s no need to get a gold medal in every event except for the point-to-point time trials, but try to always win every event at least in Edward’s Story to get the 100% for the Perfectionist trophy.
You’ll be earning these trophies: Oh… I Get it!

Step 2: Edward’s Story on “Xtra Crispy” difficulty
This step can be optional or not as if you want, you can also complete this in step 1 of the guide right after Edward’s Story as you should already have learned how to master every track with his car.
However, the “Xtra Crispy” difficulty is unlocked after you complete Edward’s Story and adds up another challenge to this game. You will have harder targets and faster opponents.
It’s recommended to go for this trophy by facing up Edward’s Story again as it’s the easiest one and you will see no real difference.
During this step you’ll earn these trophies: Did You Order Original Recipe Or Extra Crispy?
Step 3: Miscellaneous trophies, Arcade Mode, and Challenges
Now things will get a little bit spicy but before digging into the first hardest part of the game, you may want to tackle the two Arcade Mode related trophies, complete at least a race on each track and an event on a reverse circuit as well.
Focus on the other miscellaneous trophies too such as completing 10 laps in a session and hitting a checkpoint with less than 1 second left in an Endurance Event.
After that, you are ready to tackle the Challenges to unlock all the cars and prepare yourself for the next step but, unfortunately, there’s no trophy for this.
During this step you’ll earn the following trophies: It’s A New Record
Trendsetter
All Night Crossing The Line
Well Traveled
I’ve Just Been In This Place Before
Almost There…
The Perfect Lap
Step 4: Grand Prix Mode
Here you go. This will be the hardest and longest step in the game. You will need to complete the Grand Prix mode with every available car in the game and it will be very challenging.
Grand Prix Mode consists of 5 races in a row where you are ALWAYS obliged to win. If you lose, you will have three retries, and after failing three times… It will be over and you will have to start over again.
Some cars will be easy but some will make you sweat and get frustrated because the handling of every car is different and you will have to get the hang of it every time.
Furthermore, some races are almost unforgivable and even a single mistake can costs you the whole Grand Prix.
At the end of this step, you’ll earn your last trophy and a new shiny rare platinum. Complete Mastery
Drift King
How to become a drift master
In this section of the guide, you can find a detailed breakdown of how to drift with every car of the game. Unfortunately, this won’t be enough to master some of the hardest cars during the Grand Prix events, but it can be a good starting point.
NOTE: From the deep of my heart, I really want to say thanks to Kozad that gave me these tips and wanted to share them with our community.
Terra Dart
[Full speed] can drift while accelerating, good handling. This is by far the easiest car to use.
Roton Boba
Same profile as Terra Dart. This car just takes a bit more time to start a drift and drift from one side to the other.
Coda Gecko
The drift angle is a bit weak but this issue can be countered by tapping the brake ( button) from time to time to increase the drift angle but speed loss will be important. Anticipate a turn and drift early would be a better solution.
Venom Bullet & Venom Ventus
[Full speed] keeps accelerating all the time, use to have a better drift angle for sharp turns but wide turns just need you to anticipate the drift by pushing the drift stick in advance.
HPE Katana
Using the button will reset your car straight so don’t use it for drifting. Instead, release the
button if your speed is too high to have a better drift angle. When re-accelerating push
slowly to avoid your car drifting too much when you don’t want it to.
HPE Dragon
Two ways of starting a drift:
- For wide turns: just push the drift stick early in the direction you want, car is very slow to drift this way so feel to drift very very early;
- Sharp turns: release
and quickly tap
and drift stick in the direction you want then go
again when drift is started.
As this car is the hardest to master for the Grand Prix events, you will need to master both ways of drifting and know what kind of method is requiring for each turn of the City track.
Velox Jet Z 880
This one is a bit tricky, you can drift very easily by quickly pushing while accelerating but you’ll need to release
and exclusively the combo “
+ drift stick” to engage sharp turns. Doing so results in a huge loss of speed so watch out.
Coda Gecko RX
Drifting with this one requires you to use “ + drift stick” as you cannot drift while accelerating.
As for the Velox Jet Z 880, keep in mind that drifting with brakes can result in a huge speed loss if you push for too long. Track knowledge (for the offroad section) is required as this car is the only one that benefits from the shortcuts
HPE Jester
Wide turns can be easily passed by slightly pushing the drift stick in the direction you want.
For sharp turns such as hairpins, you’ll use “ + drift stick” and use
as soon as you start to “over-drift” to maintain speed.
Roton 7D
Same drifting tips as Coda Gecko RX, you’ll need to release the gas and start to brake in order to drift. For the sharp turns, do the same as with HPE Jester (the only difference is Jester can drift once you engage it even if you release the drift stick, Roton need to always push the stick).
Coda Chrono
One of the easiest Class A car. You can drift by pushing the drift stick and quickly release the gas; For hairpins and very sharp turns using could help.
Not useful but, If you push the drift stick too long (without accelerating) and start using the button, you can do some 360° for more style!
Venom Raptor
Grand Prix related events are not that hard once you learn how to drive this car.
You can’t drift while accelerating, so use “ + drift stick” to start drifting. You’ll need to find a good balance between your drift angle and when you need to accelerate once you drift.
If you push “ + drift stick” like a madman and accelerate you’ll end up doing some 360° without understanding why. But being a madman can help for hairpins once you know how the car works. Keep in mind that power is given to the rear-wheels and it has a lot of power. Tap
again if you want to finish a drift and keep the car straight.
Terra Gladio
Same as the Venom Bullet, you’ll need to keep all the time and use the combo “
+ drift stick” in addition to
when you want to drift.
For sharper drifts simply push the button longer.
Coda Supreno
Same as Terra Gladio, but if you push for too long you’ll end up doing some 180°.
Velox Impuls
No drift here. Drive this car like a normal one, use /
and the steering stick.

This trophy will pop once you complete the first event on Mount Kirino. This one is a style event against Seth. There’s no need to get a gold medal to unlock this one.
![]() ![]() Complete Edward’s story |
This trophy will pop right after you complete the third event on Mount Kirino in Edward’s Story.
This will also unlock the Xtra Crispy Difficulty which is needed for the Did You Order Original Recipe Or Extra Crispy? trophy.
Edward’s car is the Terra Dart and it’s very easy to drift with this one so you should have no trouble completing all the events.
Furthermore, you don’t have to always earn a gold medal to be able to go to the next event (except for point to point time trials) but it’s recommended to go for them to earn 100% on this story and the Perfectionist trophy as well because it’s the easiest story where to get all gold medals.
![]() ![]() Complete Ada’s story |
This trophy will pop right after you complete the third event on Mount Kirino in Ada’s Story.
Ada’s car is the Coda Jacko and its drift angle is a bit weak. You can counter this issue by tapping the brake ( button) from time to time to increase the drift angle but speed loss will be important. Anticipate a turn and drift early would be a better solution.
![]() ![]() Complete Ibba’s story |
This trophy will pop right after you complete the third event on Mount Kirino in Ibba’s Story.
Ibba’s car is the HPE Dragon which is fairly the hardest car to master. There are two ways of starting a drift:
- For wide turns: just push the drift stick early in the direction you want, car is very slow to drift this way so feel to drift very very early;
- Sharp turns: release
and quickly tap
and drift stick in the direction you want then go
again when drift is started.
Try to learn when to use a method and when to use the other one as you will have tons of troubles and nightmares when you will have to do the Grand Prix events with this car.
![]() ![]() Complete Viv’s story |
This trophy will pop right after you complete the third event on Mount Kirino in Viv’s Story.
Viv’s car is the Coda Chrono which is one of the easiest Class A cars. You can drift by pushing the drift stick and quickly release the gas; For hairpins and very sharp turns using could help.
However, don’t underestimate it as there are some tracks that can give you issues (Check the Every Second Counts trophy for more info).
![]() ![]() Complete a story play through on “Xtra Crispy” |
“Xtra Crispy” difficulty unlocks once you have beaten Edward’s Story for the first time.
In this mode, you will have to face up harder targets and faster opponents. This will add up another challenge to this game.
However, if you select to do Edward’s Story in Xtra Crispy, you won’t see any remarkable increase of difficulty as his car is the easiest one to drive and you shouldn’t have any trouble completing every event.
Furthermore, you are not forced to always get a gold medal so don’t worry at all.
Here an amazing video made by EssTee that will drive you (literally) to the accomplishment of this trophy.
![]() ![]() Complete 10 laps in practice mode in one session |
Practice Mode is available both in Arcade Mode and Story Mode so you are free to choose.
Once you start an event, you will have to do 10 laps in one sitting to get this trophy so be sure to not select a point-to-point track such as Mount Kirino.
![]() ![]() Win a race |
This trophy will pop right after winning your first race event.
Races are usually 3 laps long or point to point races where you need to beat your opponent by crossing the checkered line before him.
![]() ![]() Win a duel |
This trophy will pop right after winning your first Duel Event.
To win a duel, you need to accumulate a total lead of 1.000m or finish the track with a better result than your opponent.
They are quite bugged (or at least they seem) as sometimes the counter is not real and it can rise even if you are very close to the opponent.
![]() ![]() Beat the target time in a ghost battle |
This trophy will pop after beating a specific target time in any Ghost Battle.
These events are basically races against ghost cars and you need to complete a lap under a specific time.
![]() ![]() Earn gold in an endurance event |
This trophy will pop after earning your first gold medal in an Endurance Event.
To earn a gold medal in this type of event, you will have to drive for a specific distance without running out of time.
There will be some checkpoints that will add 15/30 seconds to your total time when you overpass them.
NOTE: Remember that you will have to hit a checkpoint with less than 1 second left for the Almost There… trophy but only attempt it after getting the gold medal just to be safe.
![]() ![]() Earn gold in a time trial |
This trophy will pop after earning your first gold medal in a Time Trial Event.
There are two types of these events based on the track you are on:
- Time Attack Event: This one applies to every track with laps. you will have 3 laps to get better and you can only get the bronze medal to pass them;
- Time Trial Event: This one applies to every point-to-point track. You will only have a single attempt and a single prefixed time you have to beat to be able to complete the event.
In harder Story Modes, there are 2/3 of them that can give you nightmares due to the strict target times and the handling of the cars.
However, here you can find some videos of these hardest events made by EssTee:
![]() ![]() Earn gold in a style event |
This trophy will pop after earning your first gold medal in a Style Event.
To earn a gold medal in this type of event, you will have to keep on drifting while maintaining a certain “Style” and totalize a specific amount of points.
It’s recommended to not simply drift but also try to get close to the wall with the nose or the back of your car and even tapping the wall. You will still keep the combo up and you will earn a bonus for doing that as well, just be careful not to crash as you won’t earn other points for a short time.
![]() ![]() Complete an event on every track |
This trophy won’t pop at the end of the 4 main stories but you will need to do a little clean-up after them.
There are 10 tracks in total and each one has a reverse layout as well. However, you don’t have to run on them for this trophy, but you will need to complete at least an event on a reverse track for the I’ve Just Been In This Place Before trophy.
To select a specific track, go into Arcade Mode and you are free to select which event you want and on which track to do it.
Here a list of the tracks that are needed to get this trophy:
- Lakeside Loop;
- Downhill Rapids;
- City Skylink;
- Bay Bridge Run;
- Snow Mountain Sprint;
- Frozen Precipice;
- Sunset Sea Circuit
- Twin Glen Run;
- Mount Kirino;
- Kirino Forest.
![]() ![]() Complete an event on a reverse track layout |
Refer to the Well Travelled trophy for further details.
![]() ![]() Hit a checkpoint with less than 1 second left |
To get this trophy, you need to start an Endurance Event and hit a checkpoint when you have less than a second on the remaining time.
This can be kinda tricky to obtain without going for it so it’s recommended to drive until you are close to the checkpoint then stop and hit it when you are out of time.
If you are trying to go for it while also attempting the Unflappable trophy, be sure to have already gotten the gold medal just to be safe.
NOTE: If you manage to hit the checkpoint after you have failed the race, you will still get the trophy.
![]() ![]() Earn a platinum medal |
To get a platinum medal, you have to score a way better time or score than the one needed for the gold medal.
This trophy is easier to get in the Style Events and you would probably earn it while doing Edward’s or Ada’s Stories.
![]() ![]() Achieve 100% on a story mode playthrough |
To get this trophy, you are obliged to earn a gold medal in every event of one of the 4 available Story Modes.
The easiest is for sure Edward’s Story but you can still get the trophy if you manage to win every event in other stories too.
For more details on this trophy, you can check the video in the Did You Order Original Recipe Or Extra Crispy? which is a 100% walkthrough of Edward’s Story in “Xtra Crispy” difficulty (Remember that, to get this trophy, you don’t have to play in this difficulty).
![]() ![]() Complete grand prix mode with every car |
This trophy would probably be the platinum breaker as it’s the hardest one to get.
You will have to complete 5 Events in a row with every car available in the game.
First of all, you will need to unlock all the cars by completing every challenge in the “Challenges” section of the main menu. After that, select the “Grand Prix” mode and be ready to sweat and get frustrated.
Grand Prix Mode consists of 5 races in a row where you are ALWAYS obliged to win. If you lose, you will have three retries, but after failing three times… It will be over and you will have to repeat them from the beginning.
Some cars will be easy but most of them won’t be a walk in the park due to their handling. Every car is different and you will have to get the hang of it every time.
Furthermore, some races are almost unforgivable and even a single error can costs you the whole Grand Prix.
Here a table with every event you need to beat for each car to get this trophy:
Car | Races |
---|---|
Terra Dart | 1) Time Attack 2) Duel 3) Race 4) Time Attack 5) Race |
Roton Boba | 1) Time Attack 2) Duel 3) Race 4) Time Attack 5) Race |

If you want to master each car, you will need tons of practice and a lot of patience. Be sure to check the “How to become a drift master” section of this guide to have a complete breakdown of each car.
