Welcome to the Gunlord X Trophy Guide! Run, shoot, jump, kill. Those are the basics in this 2D homage to Contra and the Run’n’Gun franchise! Are you up for the challenge of saving your girlfriend and killing The Master!?
Step 1: Beat the Game While Getting the Collectibles
During this one and only stage, you’ll want to do everything as you go along. Fully complete each level before moving on to the next. Luckily there is a level select for going back to previous levels. The reason you want to be collecting all the Super Diamonds in each level, is they not only give you trophies, but they also give you more continues, which accounts to more lives, which eventually makes dying trivial, and trust me, you die a lot. But if you have a game over, you get booted back to the main menu and have to do the entire level again, diamonds and all. When getting the Super Diamonds, if you miss even one in a level, you have to recollect all of them all over again.
This is also important, WHEN YOU BEAT THE GAME, YOUR SAVE DATA GETS WIPED! That is why you want to collect each and every collectible BEFORE you kill the last boss on level 11, that way you don’t have to do it all again! That is why there is only one stage to this guide.
By the end of this Stage, you should have everything done and have the platinum for a nice homage to Contra and the Run’n’Gun genre!
This game also has 4 stacks! US, EU, Asia, and Japan! So you can get multiple platinums!
You’ll be earning these trophies:
Complete all stages (10X)
Defeat all bosses (12X)

Tips and Strategies
- Getting all the Super Diamonds in a level, grants you an extra continue, which is 3 extra lives. This is very helpful for a lot of levels. Continues also stack all the time. So you can play level 1 with 9 continues if you choose to!
- Using the to attack destroys a lot of projectiles AND can go through walls, so this is very handy at taking out some enemies before you get to them.
- If you die, the enemies around you will all be despawned. Sometimes this can come in very handy.
- There are lock on purple projectiles. The easiest way to dodge these are by going into ball form with .
- There is a screen wipe attack that can be used with . It unfortunately does not kill large enemies though, and doesn’t damage bosses.

|Stage 7 Complete

In this level, there is only one boss to take care of, and when it’s dead, you move on to level 11, where this trophy truly unlocks! For a video walkthrough of level 10, refer to Guardian Is Down!
|Ludger is Down!
Defeat boss “Ludger”
To be able to get this trophy, you have to kill Ludger, who is the boss of the first level. This boss fight can be pretty easy if you know what you’re doing.
There is a platform in the middle of the fight, what you wanna do is jump on it and stay on the left edge. The boss will be shooting a gun along the bottom of the screen. He will eventually start moving up. When he stops shooting, jump down off the platform. At this point he can do one of two attacks. He will either shoot bugs from his mouth, which are easily dispatched using the , or he will launch bombs at you. If he launches bombs, stay under the platform and damage him using the . He will then proceed to start shooting his gun along the bottom again, so proceed to jump back on the platform.
Once his health is all gone, he will blow up, and this trophy will unlock. For a video on the boss, refer to Super Diamond Complete 1.
|Salival is Down!
Defeat boss “Salival”
Getting this trophy requires you to beat the boss on the second level. This boss has a few attacks where he shoots a cannon from his chest, right down the middle of the level. He will also shoot homing shots at you, which take a second to start coming towards you so they’re very easy to dodge. The rest of the fight is just dodging a lot of bullets.
Once you beat the boss, the level will be finished, and the trophy will unlock. Refer to Super Diamond Complete 2 for a walkthrough of the level.
|Gumbanis is Down!
Defeat boss “Gumbanis”
Acquiring this trophies means you have to beat the boss that is found halfway through level 3, who is known as Gumbanis. This fight is super easy. There are platforms that you can jump on. 2-3 on each side of the screen, and long platform on the bottom of the screen. When the fight starts, jump down on the long platform and blast away at the boss. Eventually he will get picked up on a pair of hooks, and when this happens, jump on the far left platform, and stand on the far left side, and blast away at the boss even more, while mashing to dispose of the little enemies it spawns.
Once it blows up, the trophy will unlock! Refer to Super Diamond Complete 3 for a video that includes the boss fight.
|Dragon is Down!
Defeat boss “Dragon”
Killing the boss that appears at the end of level 3, who is known as “Dragon”, will get you this trophy. This boss fight can be a little tough compared to the other bosses so far. The boss will be on the right side of the screen, and you’ll have a wall with alcoves on the left side you can go in to. Stand in the top alcove and shoot the boss, who will then shoot projectiles at you. You can either shoot them and some will disappear, or you can avoid them. The boss will fly to the left side of the screen, and then go to the top right. When he does this, move to the bottom alcove and damage him with and then repeat the process.
Once the boss is dead, the trophy will unlock. Refer to Super Diamond Complete 3 for a video that contains the boss fight.
|Animalu is Down!
Defeat Boss “Animalu”
To get this trophy, you have to kill “Animalu”, who just so happens to be the midway boss of level 4. This boss is annoying, only because you have a ton of stuff to dodge all at once. Luckily he just stands in place, so you don’t have to worry about him moving. The main attack you’ll be on the lookout for is yellow orbs, that are thrown at your current position, and easy enough to dodge. When the boss is almost dead, he throws two at a time, so it gets hectic fast. The worst attack is the projectiles he throws at you, which are tiny tiny orbs, that go above your head, and rain down bullets. But they’re easily dispatched with the attack. The other two things you have to lookout for, but not worry about is the boss spawning enemies. Most of the time they’ll just die in the crossfire though.
When you kill the boss, the trophy will unlock. Refer to Super Diamond Complete 4 for a video guide of the level and the boss.
|Jetpack Piratis is Down!
Defeat boss “Jetpack Piratis”
This trophy is the hardest trophy up to this point. If you don’t have extra continues from getting all the Super Diamonds in the past three level, get them. This boss is no joke. This is the end stage boss in level 4 and is “Jetpack Piratis”. You have to dodge a lot in this fight, and slowly widdle away the bosses health. There’s no going all in. Because there’s so much to contend with, the moves are broken down to help understand more.
Like the previous encounter, this boss has big yellow orbs that he throws at your current position. Easy enough to dodge luckily. He also has the little yellow orb that goes above you and drops bullets. Once again, easily dispatched with .
One of the two worst attacks, the boss will move from each side of the screen, dropping bombs in random intervals, so you have to be on your toes for this one. You may get hit trying to dodge, you may not. Remember, the bomb placement is random, you just gotta hope for the best
The second of the worst attacks, the boss will stand in place momentarily, and start lobbing red orbs at you that explode. There is no safe zone for this attack. What you don’t want to do is stand directly under him, because you’ll have no time to move if he lobs a bomb your way. You could get lucky and not have an orb thrown at you while under him, but it’s a risk you have to take yourself.
Once you’ve finally widdled down the bosses massive health bar, he will die and the trophy will unlock. Refer to Super Diamond Complete 4 for a video on the level and the boss.
|Dikhander is Down!
Defeat boss “Dikhander”
Getting this trophy requires you to kill the boss at the end of level 6 known as “Dikhander”. Luckily this boss is a lot easier than the last bosses that were fought. The boss happens in an elevator shaft like area, so the boss is underneath you. Platforms float from the bottom of the screen to the top, so you’ll be moving quite a bit. Your main damage will be from attack. This can shoot the boss between the platforms, you just have to let the energy reload.
The only things you have to look out for are enemies that can fly at you. Dispatch them however you want. The boss will blow fire at you, but it’s range is so small you shod never be hit by it. Another attack the boss does, is shooting projectiles from its body. They’re just balls that fly around the area of the boss and can be destroyed with .
Once the boss is dead, the trophy will unlock! Refer to Super Diamond Complete 6 for a walkthrough of the level that shows the boss fight!
|The Twins are Down!
Defeat boss “The Twins”
To be able to acquire this trophy, you have to beat the midway boss in level 7, known as “The Twins”. Buckle up for this boss fight, it is easily one of the most frustrating boss fight. You have to fight the boss from the end of level 4, “Jetpack Piratis”, except the catch is, there’s two now, and they have NO VISIBLE HEALTH BAR! This fight will take patience, and time, and many retries. Employ the same tactics as if you were fighting one, and you’ll kill them both eventually.
When they both die, the trophy will pop, and you can party. For a video reference of this guide, see Super Diamond Complete 7.
|Bubble Crab is Down!
Defeat Boss “Bubble Crab”
Getting this boss trophy is much easier than the last one. You get this by killed the “Bubble Crab” boss at the end of level 7. For this battle, you can stand right in the middle of the room and shoot upward, and the bosses health bar just drops. The boss will drop crates that impair your movement, and damage you if you touch them, but they’re easy enough to destroy. He will also shoot bubbles that can be destroyed by normal gunfire. His claw will also possibly shoot out green balls that cover the screen. They can be destroyed by using the attack. The move you want to look out for is his lock on projectiles. They will be purple, and there will be 5 at a time. When the boss is doing this attack, don’t worry about damage, just keep dodging until he stops.
When you kill the boss, the trophy will pop and you can proceed to the end of the level! For a guide to this nice and easy boss fight, refer to the video in the Super Diamond Complete 7 trophy description.
|Cyborg is Down!
Defeat Boss “Cyborg”
Killing the boss known as “Cyborg” at the end of level 8 will award you with this trophy. This boss can either end up being easy, or being super annoying, there’s not much of an in between. The entire fight, the boss will be spawning weird, big brained fetus looking things (yes, fetus), and if they aren’t dispatches fast enough, they shoot a green projectile at you, that can be destroyed with . At certain points in the fight, the boss will shoot a giant fetus ball that is spewing green projectiles, so taking all that out with is necessary and easy enough.
At two separate points in the fight, the boss will inch closer to you, which makes his other attack annoying. He will shoot out five purple projectiles at you, that the first set can be easily dodged, but the second set is hard. The reason for this is that the best way to dodge it is by turning into a ball by hitting , but with the boss so close, you don’t have room to maneuver much, so if you dodge the projectiles, but touch the boss, it’s all pointless. Luckily, the boss goes down fast enough.
Once the boss is dead, the trophy will unlock, and you just have to cross a jump to finish the level! Refer to Super Diamond Complete 8 for a walkthrough of the level, along with the boss fight!
|Guardian is Down!
Defeat Boss “Guardian”
In order to get this trophy, you have to beat the boss “Guardian” at the end of level 10. This level is a side scrolling shooter, so the boss is relatively simple. The biggest hurdle in this fight is you can’t destroy the green projectiles like you normally can. The boss is constantly spawning big brained fetus enemies, just like the Cyborg did, so dispatch of them as quick as possible, seen that you can’t destroy the projectiles.
The boss will at some points shoot purple homing shots at you. You have a lot of room to move around in, so this should be easy to dodge. Now the last attack he has can mess you up if you’re not careful. From the right side of the map, rockets will come in. When you see them, hit for your screen wiping bomb, and prepare to dodge all the projectiles. This is the worst move.
Once the boss is dead, the level will finish, and the trophy will unlock. Refer to the video below for a full walkthrough of the level!
Defeating The Guardian
|The Master is Down!
Defeat boss “The Master”
This trophy is obtained by killing the final boss “The Master”, and beating the game. This boss fight is very, very rough, and will require some patients and a couple attempts. The boss attacks will be broken down in the easiest ways to understand, but, he’s usually throwing ALL of the attacks at you at once, so don’t expect certain phases.
When the level starts, there will be four green robots, one spawning at each corner. They will spawn throughout the entire fight, so when you see them, focus on killing them first! When all of these are dead, the boss will appear in the middle of the screen, and immediately start attacking you. The boss has four different attacks that he will hit you with. Usually hes using 2 or 3 at a time, so you have to be on the move constantly.
Two of his attacks are gonna be lumped together here, as they’re both essentially the same. One is orange diamond projectiles that he shoots AT you, and the other is green bullets that he shoots out in front of him. Both of them can be destroyed with the attack.
The third move he has is that he will shoot purple fireballs in front of him, covering almost the entire area of the floor. When they hit the floor, the disappear. They’re easy to dodge by either standing in either corner of the room, or by jumping on the platform on either side of the room as well.
His fourth attack is a move you should be used to by now, and that’s the purple projectiles that home in on you. When this happens, the best strategy is to just go into ball mode using and keep rolling around until he is done with the attack.
After you finish this grueling boss fight, the trophy will pop, and the credits will roll. Refer to the video below for a guide on the boss fight.
