Introduction:

Welcome to the GRID {2019} Trophy Guide!
GRID {2019} is the latest in the Grid Racing Franchise and is descried by Codemasters as “a racing experience like no other. Offering unrivalled wheel-to-wheel racing”. Similar to other games by this developer GRID is a ridiculous looking game that is fast, and action packed, with a very Arcade Style feel whilst driving around some of the most famous locations from around the world.

Roadmap:

Step 0: Tutorial.
You will begin this game with a 3-race tutorial. This is an introduction to the game and where your results will determine the difficulty level of the AI when you progress into the main part of the game.
You will not earn any trophies during this step, but it is worth putting in, so you know what to expect.

Step 1: Career.
This is where you will earn almost all your trophies. Events are a combination of various length races/trials ranging from 1 Race/1 Lap to 4 Races/3 Laps and you will need to earn the gold trophy for all 97 events in a championship style format for Gold Worth its Weight.
All events can be played on Very Easy by changing the difficulty should you need to do so. You can also save your progress mid event by simply starting the next race and the next time you go into that event you will have a “Continue” option.

You’ll be earning these trophies:
Bronze A Fine Choice
Bronze FA Racing Specialist
Bronze Cruise Control
Bronze Out Of Stock
Bronze Tour Guide
Bronze Fine Tuned
Bronze Brawler

Part of the Career, but only unlocked upon progressing through the various Career sections, you will need to participate in and win the GRID World Series for the Ravenwest Livery required for Bronze RavenBest.
Again all events can be played on Very Easy by changing the difficulty should you need to do so.

During this step you’ll earn these trophies:
Gold Best of the Best
Gold Content Tracker
Gold Worth its Weight

Step 3: Clean-Up/Misc
You may earn a view of these during the Career Mode if you did not venture too far into the game and simply played through. Refer to the specific trophy descriptions if you are missing any of the below.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:
Bronze Personal Touch
Bronze Show Off
Bronze RavenBest
Bronze Coupon Car
Bronze Underdog
Bronze Pristine
Silver Pro Driver
Gold Race Driver

Step 4: Miles Grind
See Gold Around the Globe description below in the trophy list for more details on the final step, as you are looking at a good 100 hours minimum for this final Step.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:
Gold Around the Globe
40-platinum Undisputed

Tips and Strategies:

The game itself provides very little effort in the terms of difficulty, however there is a major grind required for the Platinum. The biggest advice i can give on this game is just to have patience; do not expect to platinum this game in a few days, as it’s just not possible.
A Turbo Controller will also save you a lot of troubles for the AFK grind, if you decide to do it this way.

Gameplay:

I documented my whole Career Mode journey, so feel free to check it out below.

A Fine Choice
Purchase your first car

You will be prompted to purchase a car for an event if you do not already own one that is applicable to that race series and you will need to purchase your first car after completing the first three “tutorial” races in order to begin the first race within your Career.
When you go into your first Career Race hold down to purchase.

Content Tracker Gold
Own at least one car in each class available from launch

This will come naturally as you progress with other trophies as you will in most cases need to purchase relevant vehicles in order to compete in that class.
You will need to own a minimum of 23 cars for this trophy which are from the following categories in you garage –

  1. Classic Ferrari – Invitational
  2. Classic GT – Invitational
  3. Classic Mini – Invitational
  4. Classic Touring – Invitational
  5. F1000 – Invitational
  6. Ferrari – Invitational
  7. G7 Specials – Invitational
  8. Group 1 – GT
  9. Group 2 – GT
  10. Historic GT – Invitational

Note:- If you have the VIP version of the game and have access to the “GRID Edition” of some cars, these do not count towards the 1 in each category. You also do not need to own any of the cars mentioned within the Seasonal Category, as these were not “available at launch” and are part of the DLC.

Race Driver Gold
Reach Player Level 99

Your Player Level is increased by gaining XP during races. The XP is awarded by (and not limited too) Clean Sections/Corners, Drafting, Drifting and being near other racers/barriers and is multiplied if you chain these things together.
It will take a while to reach Level 99, however there is no need to worry about this trophy as you will have a good chance of achieving this trophy whilst going for others during Career Mode.
If not, you will certainly earn it whilst grinding out Gold Around the Globe, as I went up 50 levels within 10,000 miles while AFK grinding this out.
You can earn XP by repeating events, or within Free Play & Multiplayer.

Worth its Weight Gold
Earn a gold trophy in every Career Event in the Career Tab

In order to obtain the Gold Trophy in each Career event you must win the Event by having the best placings combined over the races/trials within.
The events vary from 1 race/trial to 4 races/trials, so you need to ensure you have collectively the best finishes.
This can be earned with the difficulty set to Very Easy, so if you need to adjust these settings go to Options, Gameplay &  to Difficulty.

Around the Globe Gold
Drive a total distance equal to the circumference of the Earth

Without doubt this will be the final trophy prior to the Platinum and is arguably one of the worst grinds in recent driving games, as you will need to drive 24,901 Miles (40,075 KMs).
If you are playing this game for trophies and haven’t ventured too much online it is expected that you will have around 1,500 Miles completed by the end of Career Mode, so there will be a lot of grinding required. To check your Miles Go to Player Profile – Edit Driver – Statistics.

There are 2 methods for this grind, baring in mind that you will need to complete somewhere in the region of 9,000-9,500 laps of Indianapolis –

  1. Manual Racing (100 hours) – For this method you will be driving round and around Indianapolis in Free Play alone with 99 Laps set as the distance and using the fastest car purchased (Bugatti, Porsche). This will take you around an hour to complete and clock you somewhere in the region of 250 miles. You will need to repeat this 90 more times to clock the required miles.
  2. AFK Racing (200 hours+) – Luckily there was a AFK method discovered by Schwarz88 on the PSNP forums, which was then modified by Lightsp33d1987. With these methods you are able to drive the around Indianapolis fully AFK and they only have occasional DSQ’s.
This method takes over twice as long to complete and finishes a 99 lap race in around 2.5 hours, but you can completely AFK with a Turbo Controller.

During the setup for the AFK method Lightsp33d1987 advises to set the Accelerate on L2 to ensure you are able to continue when the race ends. You will also need to band the turbo onto X to continue and start a new race once the 99 laps are complete.
It is advised that you regularly back up your saves; however this is a given for games that are going to take you in excess of 100 hours to complete.

For a full run down of the settings for the AFK Method see the below screenshots

Personal Touch

From the main menu head into Player Profile, Garage, then press on one of the cars that you own, to change the Livery. Once there you will need to customize any livery by pressing again and then simply selecting a different colour.

Show Off
Win a race by crossing the line backwards

Can be achieved in any Race Event in any category. All you need to do is to build up a big enough lead to ensure you are able to reserve across the line at the end of the race.
To make this even easier you can achieve it whilst racing by yourself in Free Play.

Brawler
Beat your first Nemesis

In order to obtain this trophy you first need to get a “Nemesis”. This is done by simply annoying the hell out of one particular opponent until they have a red sign by their name and above their car. It will not take you long before you see your first one, but if you are a careful driver and tend not to rub the other cars too much maybe you should try ramming a few cars…
A “Nemesis” is identified by the Red tag/sign above their car and next to their name iin the standings. The car of your Nemesis also shows as red on the mini track.
Once you have a Nemesis set all you need to do is beat them in that particular race.

RavenBest
Win a race in a Ravenwest livery with Nathan McKane as your team mate

The Ravenwest Livery is unlocked upon winning the final event in the GRID World Series and obtaining Gold Best of the Best. After you have unlocked it head over to Player Profile, Team & “Hire” Nathan McKane by holding on his name to change your Team Mate and upon completing this you will then need to change the Livery of the F1000 Car to the Ravenwest Livery.
This can be done within Player Profile, Garage, Invitational & pushing on the F1000 Car (You need to have purchased it to be able to change the Livery). The Ravenwest Livery will then be found in the Stock Collection.

The final step for this would be to head back into Career and compete in the first event of the Fernando Alonso Series. Win the first race and the trophy will pop.

Coupon Car
Win an Event with at least 3 other racers using a loan car

Head over to Free Play and select any event you feel comfortable with (Indianapolis Oval being the easier/shortest). Ensure you have a grid size that is 4 or larger and when you are prompted to select a car you will have the option to Loan some of them for the race.
They are a number of cars that have the option to loan across all categories; however If you do this prior to purchasing the Bugatti, then this is an option to loan within the Track Day Hypercar Class that can be selected as per the details in Gold Around the Globe. Simply ensure that you win the event. Remember you can lower the difficulty to Very Easy and do 1 lap races…

Next Contestant Please
Beat your first Career Rival

You will get your first rival automatically when entering Career Mode and will obtain this trophy quickly by winning your first career race. A “Rival” is identified by the Orange tag/sign above their car.

Underdog
Win an Event with a full grid having finished the first round in last place

You may get this trophy naturally whilst playing through Career, however you will more than likely have to make a conscious effort to do so.
If you want to quickly grab the trophy then head over to Free Play and select any event you feel comfortable with (Indianapolis Oval being the easier/shortest). Ensure you have a grid size that is 16 and the event set to 4 rounds.
When this is done you will need to finish last in Race 1, then ensure by the end of the 4 events you have the most points overall.

Pristine
Finish a race with at least 3 other racers without taking any damage

Another trophy you will probably obtain naturally during Career, as you will get events where there is loads of room and you pull away from the group easily.
You can obtain this in Free Play easily by setting a 1 Lap Race and simply driving around at the back without getting in anyone’s way, as all you need to do is finish the race and not win it, as long as you stay on track and do not hit anything.

First Of Many
Win your first Career Event

Winning your first race will net you this trophy in no time. Your initial difficulty of the opponents is set automatically based on how well you perform in the first three tutorial races, so you may have the option to lower the difficulty if you are struggling with this one.
