Grand Theft Auto III 100% guide

INTRODUCTION:

Grand Theft Auto 3 is the original GTA game that started the 3D and HD universe. It’s known, however, in its current-day that the game has not aged well. The controls, physics and overall gameplay are not ideal and nowhere near perfect, sometimes downright frustrating when doing to stunt jumps.

The point of this guide is to help you earn the 100% without getting stuck, as this trophy is missable and can be made more difficult when not done in proper order. Mission order is the main reason most people will miss this trophy. There are many missable missions and completing certain missions before others will make the 100% impossible to achieve on certain save files.

The aim of this guide is to show you the best order of not just missions but, also the various activities that are found around the map relating to the 100% Look at the Checklist for the full list.

CHEATS:

Cheats do not disable trophies so you can use them as much or as little as you’d like. But, certain cheats can lock you out of earning 100% and will lock you at 99%

Here is a list of cheats that will NOT lock you out of 100% And are SAFE use!

EffectCode
Full armor
Full health (heals your car as well) (useful for paramedic missions)
Gain $250,000
Obtain all wepons
Wanted Level boosted 2 levels
Wanted Level eliminated

PORTLAND: GETTING STARTED

Complete all of Luigi’s and Joey’s missions before you complete Salvatore’s missions. Once you complete the “Last Requests”  mission for Salvatore you will be locked out of completing any remaining missions for Luigi and Joey. This would lock you out of the 100%

Note: you should make multiple saves to make sure you never get stuck at a point when you accidentally might do a mission you shouldn’t.

As soon as you finish the first mission “Give me Liberty” (1/48)

Paramedic:

Complete the Paramedic missions as soon as possible. Portland is the smallest island so doing the Paramedic missions is easier than on other islands which are much larger. However, this doesn’t mean it’s easy, it’s still very challenging as the Paramedic Van is known for flipping over. If this happens you will have to start again from level 1 and you must do 12 levels in a row.

Some general tips:

  • Hold R1 while turning to prevent flipping, also Spamming Touch Pad Left  while turning to prevent flipping while driving
  • Learn the map a little bit to get a hang of the roots you need to take to reach certain patents.

Complete the Vigilante and Firefighter missions. These are in fact the easiest to do compared to other GTA games and fortunately, do not have to be completed in a row unless you are trying to earn Splish Splash and Going Rogue but after you earn these you will not need to complete them in a row on other islands. But even though you need to complete kill 20 criminals for Vigilante and extinguish 20 fires Firefighter in a row for the trophies, they are very easy.

Firefighter:

Extinguish 20 fires in Firefighter missions (20/60) (20 per island)

Firefighter tips:

  • By this time you should know the map quite well from completing the Paramedic missions, use this to your advantage.
  • Use Right Stick to aim the hose better.

Vigilante:

Kill 20 criminals in Vigilante missions (20/60) (20 per island)

Vigilante tips:

  • An easy way to complete all 12 levels quickly and with little effort is to drive right behind the vehicle you are chasing and then press Touch Pad Right Touch Pad Right to pause and unpause. This causes the people in the vehicle to exit and you can easily run them over and kill them.

PORTLAND: RAMPAGES

Rampages:

There are 20 in total across all 3 islands. But, only 6 in portland. Each rampage has 2 spawn locations. The first location is the main location and the second location only appears if you fail a rampage in the first location. And if you fail in the second location as well, it loops back to the first location.

These are all possible to be completed after you finish the game but will be much more difficult due to the fact that later in the game, certain gangs you might go up against will be your enemies and instantly recognize to shoot and kill you. So it’s recommended to finish these as quick as possible. You don’t need a weapon as the rampage provides you with a weapon and infinite ammo.

Portland Rampages:

  1. Murder 30 Diablos in 120 seconds. (1/20)
  2. Kill 25 Triads in 120 seconds. (2/20)
  3. Destroy 13 vehicles in 120 seconds. (3/20)
  4. Kill 20 Triads in 120 seconds. (4/20)
  5. Destroy 10 vehicles in 120 seconds. (5/20)
  6. Kill 20 Mafia in 120 seconds. (6/20)

Hidden Packages:

There are 100 Hidden Packages across all 3 islands. But, only 33 in Portland. All packages can actually be collected before you finish even the first mission. But, this is not necessary and you can choose to do this after you finish the game when you have all the locations and islands unlocked as 2 packages on Portland can only be accessed after unlocking the second island or glitching.

The reason these can be collected later is that all they do is unlock weapons which you can get from cheat codes. And you can easily lose track if you do not collect them all at one time per island. But that is your choice whether you want to use cheat codes to get weapons or collect the available hidden packages for the weapons you’ll be using.

The following is the best video for collecting the packages. It shows the locations and also has commentary throughout to help you along the way. And a map with the locations if you prefer.
