Effie Trophy Guide

Trophy Roadmap:

Difficulty: 2.5-3/10
Estimated time to platinum/100%: 4 – 6 hours
Missable trophies: 13
Glitched Trophies: None
Difficulty Related: None

Introduction:

After the once young and strapping Galand was cursed into an old man’s body by the evil witch Melira, it’ll be up to him to prove to the Elders that he is pure of heart so they can reverse the spell and return him to his true form once again. Armed with nothing but a magical shield named Runestone, Galand must traverse the plains while clearing the evil from all the towns across Oblena. Collect runes along the way to upgrade Galand’s power as he gains skills to become as strong as he can be. Help Galand take down Melira to save Oblena and only then will he be able to prove how pure in heart he really is. Will that be enough for the Elders or is he destined to live out his days as a gray-haired hero?

Small note regarding one of the areas in the game: Windmills City and Windmill Town are the same place. Some of the trophy descriptions are labeled as Windmill Town, some are labeled as Windmills City, and the banner to the location in the game is labeled as Windmills City. So just in case the wording changes throughout the guide, they are in fact the same place. Apologies up front for any confusion.

Roadmap:

Step 1: Play through the introduction chapter and collect the relic

The first chapter (The Temple of the Elder Protectors) is where you will pick up Runestone, your trusty steed shield. You won’t be able to break any pots or boxes until you pick this up, but once you do, be sure to break everything possible to gain XP to fill your power meter (top left). There are also 8 Experience Chests spread throughout this level so keep an eye out for them so you can fill said meter and get your power upgraded quicker.

There is one Relic to pick up and it is missable, but also incredibly hard to miss as the chest that contains it is in the middle of the main pathway. If you complete the level without somehow picking it up (no seriously, it’s incredibly hard to miss), you’ll need to start a new game in order to pick it up, so just keep an eye out for the White and Gold chest.

You’ll be earning these trophies:

Bronze More than a companion
Silver Tomb Raider
Silver A Small Victory

Depending on how many Experience Chests you open, there is also a chance that Bronze Vigorous will unlock during this step.

Step 2: Collect everything in the Red Plains of Oblena

You have a few options for this step – do it as you play through the game, do it all now, or do it all right before you enter the Temple of Oblena. It’s recommended, however, that you do it now as the Experience Chests will come in handy for upgrading Galand’s power, which in turn, will be beneficial while clearing out Windmill Town, Woodborn, and The Vineyards. Your main focus will be collecting all 11 Relics in the Red Plains, but there are also 14 Experience Chests that you can collect along the way.

During this step you’ll earn these trophies:

Silver The Three Tower
Bronze Speed lover

Silver 2 Fast 2 Furious
Silver Ghostbusters
Silver Maximus “the Gladiator”
Silver A walk to remember
Silver Private eye Galand
Bronze Vigorous
(if you did not earn it in Step 1)

Step 3: Complete Windmill Town, Woodborn, and The Vineyards

You can do these three areas in any order, but the recommended order is as they are listed. The Dash skill you receive in Windmill Town will help with the platforming areas throughout the game. The Boomerang skill you learn in Woodborn is far more beneficial than the Earthquake skill you learn in The Vineyards as it can easily wipe out an ambush (one solo swing will take out all of the smaller enemies within range, allowing you to focus on the larger enemies should they be present).

Each area has two missable Relics that you need to be on the lookout for. Unlike the Temple of Elder Protectors, these are not in plain sight and will require some navigating to find. Videos have been provided showing the locations of all the Relics and most of the Experience Chest (they are located under the respective Relic trophies associated with each area). If you complete any area without finding the associating 2 relics, you will need to start a new game in order to get them (you cannot go back to any area once you have finished it). Along with the Relics, you want to be sure you are breaking everything, killing all the enemies, and opening all the Experience Chests you can find to get Galand’s power upgraded. If you are having trouble finding the Experience Chests, please reference the collectible guide.

You want to have Galand’s Power upgraded the 6 times required for Gold Galand “the Powerful” before this step is complete (there are enough Chests, enemies, runes, etc to upgrade Galand’s Power at least 8 times so if you miss anything, don’t fret on it too much).

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:

Bronze Beware, I can ram you!
Silver The Librarian
Silver Protector of cities
Bronze Round… and round… and round I go!
Silver The Searcher
Silver Songs will be sung
Bronze Was that an Earthquake?
Gold The best companion ever
Silver Taster of stories
Gold
Collector
Silver A sweet victory
Gold
Experienced
(if you did not unlock it in Step 2)
Gold
Galand “the Powerful”

If you do not earn Gold Galand “the Powerful” by the time you complete The Vineyards, you’ll need to run around the Red Plains killing enemies for XP until you get your 6th upgrade. If you go to the Fisher Fish area (just North West of the Temple of Elder Protectors), you can bounce between that area and the small ghoul encampment just North of it.

Step 4: Defeat Melira

Before entering the Temple of Oblena, you want to make sure the only two trophies you’re missing are Gold The end of an adventure and the Platinum. Before entering the Temple, you will be prompted with a message letting you know that you are about to cross the point of no return. If you are missing anything outside of these trophies, get them before entering. If you continue into the temple, you’ll need to start a completely new playthrough to get them.

When you’re ready, enter the Temple of Oblena. There are no chests here, just you and Melira. If you need any help with this fight, please reference the video provided under Silver Taster of stories as this includes the fights with Melira for both the Vineyards and the Temple of Oblena.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:

Gold The end of an adventure
40-platinum Effie, a fantasy adventure

The end of an adventureGold
Defeat Melira at the Temple of Oblena.

Story Related

The Temple of Oblena will make up the fourth and final chapter of the game. You’ll need to complete Windmills City, Woodburn, and The Vineyards before going here. Along with that, you want to make sure you have earned all other trophies except this one and the Platinum before entering the Temple (there are no relics here so you should have Gold Collector). You will receive a message letting you know that you are about to pass the point of no return, so if anything is left undone, you’ll need to start a new game to get it.

This fight is similar to the one in The Vineyards in that you need to jump across a variety of platforms and obstacles so you can hit 3 buttons. When all 3 are pressed, Melira will be hit. You’ll need to hit her 3 times to defeat her. Periodically, before and after you press the buttons, an ambush will spawn that you need to take down before you can move forward. Make use of your Boomerang (hold ) and Earthquake () attacks to take the enemies down quickly.

The fight will autosave after each section with Melira (each time you hit her) so if you happen to fall off a ledge or get killed in the obstacles, you don’t have to worry about starting the entire fight over again.

Once you have hit her the last time, a small cutscene will play out and the trophy (and the Platinum if you have everything else) will unlock. If you are having trouble with this fight, please see the video provided under SilverTaster of stories as this includes the fights with Melira for both the Vineyards and the Temple of Oblena.

CollectorGold
Find all relics.

Missable

In total, there are 18 Relics to find: 11 in The Red Plains, 2 in Windmill City, 2 in Woodborn, 2 in The Vineyards, and then 1 in the Temple of Elder Protectors.

The ones in Windmill City, Woodborn, The Vineyards, and the Temple of Elder Protectors are all missable, so if you complete those areas and do not have all the relics, you’ll need to start a completely new game to get them. The 11 in the Red Plains must be picked up before you enter the Temple of Oblena to face off with Melira for the final time. When you enter that temple, there will be a message letting you know that you have hit the point of return. Only continue forward when you have picked all of them up and have this trophy.

If you are having trouble locating any, please see the individual trophies for collecting the relics in each area for video guides on where to find these.

The best companion everGold
Get all Runestone skills.

Runestone is the magical shield that you pick up in the introduction of the game. Its skills are acquired at the start of each Chapter-related area by interacting with the statue.

Windmill City: Dash attack ()
Woodborn: Boomerang attack (hold )
The Vineyards: Earthquake (hold )

The order in which you get them is up to you, but the recommended order is listed just above. No matter which you choose, the trophy will unlock once Runestone has been equipped with the 3rd and final skill.

Galand “the Powerful”Gold
Upgrade Galand’s power 6 times.

Missable

Galand’s power is upgraded by filling the meter in the top left of your screen. Picking up runes, defeating enemies, breaking boxes/barrels, and opening Experience Chests all give xp required to fill the meter. Each time it fills, Galand’s HP bar and Power bar will increase. You can easily get this late in the second chapter/early in the third so long as you break literally everything. You also want to open up as many Experience Chests as you can as this greatly help. The locations of all of these are provided in video guides under the respective “find all relics” trophies for each area.

You must earn this before your encounter with Melira in the Temple of Oblena. You’ll receive a message right before entering that you are about to pass the point of no return. If you do not have this trophy, go back and look for more Chests, enemies, and runes. If you enter the Temple before it unlocks, you’ll need to start a completely new game to get it.

Once Galand’s meter has been filled for the 6th time, the trophy will unlock.

ExperiencedGold
Open 20 Experience Chests.

Missable

There are more than 20 Experience Chests available and you really want to aim in picking up as many as you can to help towards Gold Galand “the Powerful”. There are enough chests at the start of the game for you to earn this Chapter 1, giving that you clean up the Red Plains before entering Windmill City. Open up your 20th chest and the trophy will unlock.

The locations of 44 Experience Chests are provided in the video guides which can be found under the individual “find all relics” trophies for each individual area.

The Three Towerupscale-245262160018212
Complete the Harmony Obelisks area.

Missable

The Harmony Obelisks are located between the Temple of Elder Protectors and Windmill City. If using the Temple as South, the Obelisks will be just North East, before you reach the stadium for Silver 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Complete this area will reward you with a Relic. It’s located at the very top of the tower along with an Experience Chest. Getting up to the top will require just a lot of basic platforming. You’ll come across enemies along the way so make use of your heavy attack () to pass by them quickly. Along the way, there will be two buttons to press that will activate two separate lifts. These will come in handy should you lose your footing and take a fall down.

Just as a precaution note, be wary of platforms that break away when you stand on them. These will appear after you hit the second button for the second lift, pretty close to the top. If the platform is covered in cracks, it will break, so be sure to time your jumps accordingly. You don’t need to extra special ability to complete this. If you’ve completed Windmill City, you’ll have the Dash attack, which can come in handy, but is not required.

Once you reach the top, open up the white and gold chest to receive the ‘The Equilibrium War‘ Relic as well as the trophy.

If you’re having any trouble on any part of this, please see Silver Private eye Galand for a video guide showing the locations of all the Relics in the Red Plains.

Maximus “the Gladiator”upscale-245262160018212
Complete the Fire Hammer Coliseum area.

Missable

If using the Temple of Elder Protectors as a South marker, the Fire Hammer Coliseum is located on the far west side of Oblena. It’s very large and very hard to miss.

When you go inside, stand in the glowing circle with the two hammers to start the arena. You’ll need to fight through 10 waves of enemies, each increasing in difficulty. You don’t need anything extra to complete these fights, but if you’re having trouble with the basic attacks, you can wait to do this until after you have completed Windmill City, Woodburn, and The Vineyards so you have all 3 special attacks available to you.

If using the basic attacks, make heavy use of your heavy attack () to quickly burn the enemies down. Be mindful of the edges as you will fall off and will need to start over. Keep an eye on your HP as well. If it gets low, run around the area for a few (avoiding enemies) so the meter replenishes itself.

Once you have completed the arena, a platform will appear with two Experience Chests and a relic chest. Open up the Relic chest to receive the “Pan with the Royal Army’s Seal” relic as well as the trophy.

If you’re having any trouble with any part of this, please see Silver Private eye Galand for a video guide showing the locations of all the Relics in the Red Plains.

2 Fast 2 Furiousupscale-245262160018212
Complete the Quick Imp area.

Missable

If using the Temple of Elder Protectors as a South marker, the stadium needed to start the race for this trophy is located North East, just past the Harmony Obelisks required for Silver The Three Tower.

Enter the stadium while riding on your hoverboard and you’ll see a glowing circle. Stop in the circle to start the race. You need to hit all of the green lights that appear along the path. Use the boosters to your advantage so you can stay at as full speed as possible. During this race, you will unlock Speed lover if you have not already.

Complete the course before your timer up top hits 0. When you make it back, a door will open on the ground level of the stadium. Go inside and defeat all the enemies (you’ll need the XP they drop for Galand “the Powerful”). Go up the stairs and on the top floor will be two Experience Chests (one on each side) and a Relic Chest. Open up the Relic Chest to receive the Imp Relic as well as this trophy.

If you’re having any trouble with any part of this, please see Silver Private eye Galand for a video guide showing the locations of all the Relics in the Red Plains.

Ghostbustersupscale-245262160018212
Complete the Quiet Rock area.

Missable

The Quiet Rock area is the Graveyard that is located just behind Windmill City (if using the Temple of Elder Protectors as a South marker, it will be directly West of the stadium needed for Silver 2 Fast 2 Furious).

In the graveyard, you’ll see 4 switches. Along with these is a large crypt with a Relic Chest behind a closed gate. If facing away from the crypt, you need to hit the top right switch. Hitting the wrong one(s) will cause enemies to spawn that you’ll need to take care of before continuing on. Defeat the enemies you need to and when the right switch is pulled, the gate to the crypt will open.

Open up the Relic Chest to receive the Past Ghosts Relic as well as this trophy.

If you’re having any trouble with any part of this, please see Silver Private eye Galand for a video guide showing the locations of all the Relics in the Red Plains.

A walk to rememberupscale-245262160018212
Complete the Fisher Fish area.

Missable

If using the Temple of Elder Protectors as a South marker, the Fisher Fish area is located just Northwest of the temple, just past the entrance. It’s marked by a large pond with a tall black tower.

At the top of this tower is a Relic Chest. Defeat the enemies within the area and when it’s clear, make your way up the tower. Open the Chest at the top to receive the Mask of the Sonii Relic as well as this trophy.

If you’re having any trouble with any part of this, please see Silver Private eye Galand for a video guide showing the locations of all the Relics in the Red Plains.

Find all relics in the Temple of the Elder Protectors.

Story Related

This is only one relic in the Temple of Elder Protectors and it is incredibly hard to miss as it’s in the middle of the main path. Towards the end, you’ll have to jump across a few platforms that have pistons on them. Getting in front of these will cause you to fall off, so pass by them carefully.

Just after the pistons, you’ll come to a large doorway with the Relic Chest right in front of it.

Open up the chest to receive the “The Temple is Falling into Disrepair” Relic as well as this trophy.

If you are having trouble locating this or also need help with the Experience Chests and/or Melira fight in this area, please reference the video below:

The Librarian upscale-245262160018212
Find all relics in Windmills Town.

Missable

There are two Relics to find in Windmills Town: Accounts of the Royal Barn Reserve and Windmills City Insignia.

THE FIRST is located in the area that opens up after you pick up the Dash skill. Tucked in the back is a large wooden building with a bull’s skull or horns hanging above the door.

Go left of the door, towards the red foliage, and hug the white building. In the corner will be a pathway that leads to the Chest. Open up the Chest to receive the “Accounts of the Royal Barn Reserve” Relic.

THE SECOND is found after you pick up the 3rd key. You’ll find yourself in a green-tinted sewer-like area with some pipes and a handful of ghosts to fend off. Clear them out and when you’re crossing the pipes, about halfway through, turn left and you’ll see an open pipe you can jump in to.

Jump in here and defeat the enemies on the other side. When they’re clear, go up the stairs. Defeat the enemies on the second floor as well. When they’re clear, go down the stairs on the opposite side of the room you came up on (there will be a fireplace to the left).

At the bottom of the stairs are a lot of boxes. Break them all to reveal the Relic Chest. Open the chest to receive the “Windmills City Insignia” Relic and this trophy.

If you are having trouble locating these or also need help with the Experience Chests and/or Melira fight in this area, please reference the video below:

The Searcherupscale-245262160018212
Find all relics in Woodborn.

Missable

There are two relics to find in Woodborn: Delivery of 1000 Spears with the Woodborn Stamp and Woodborn Insignia.

THE FIRST is located at the very start. After you interact with the statue and receive the Boomerang attack, face the front of the statue. From here, turn right and just after the first door is a pathway between the houses on the right.

Go between these houses to find the Relic Chest (next to a small pumpkin patch). Open it up to receive the “Delivery of 1000 Spears with the Woodborn Stamp” Relic.

THE SECOND is located towards about the middle of the chapter. You’ll come to a point where you need to press a button to raise some columns, then climb up those columns before the timer runs out. Before doing so, however, look past the button and across the area will be an open doorway that is lit up (it’ll have a red tree just inside).

Go inside this area and kill the enemies. The cabin just inside will have a picture of a saw just above the door.

Follow the path to the left of this cabin in just behind it will be the Relic Chest. Open it up to receive the “Woodborn Insignia” Relic as well as this trophy.

If you are having trouble locating these or also need help with the Experience Chests and/or Melira fight in this area, please reference the video below:

Find all relics in The Vineyards.

Missable

There are two Relics to find in the Vineyards: My Dear Miarel and The Vineyards Insignia.

THE FIRST is located in the area where you have to step on the 3 buttons with a picture of a barrel on them in order to activate a switch.

Go to the right side of the room and around the corner into an area with a few large wine barrels. Defeat the enemies here. On the far back wall are two of the large wine barrels. Behind the one on the left is a switch.

Flip the switch and a hidden door will open. Go back to the main room (but don’t forget to hit the button in here if you haven’t already). This time, go to the left side of the area. Tucked away in the back right corner is the doorway that just opened. Go inside and open the Relic Chest to receive the “My Dear Miarel” Relic.

THE SECOND is located in the area where you need to flip the 3 switches to align the lights/gears of some barrels. The correct alignment will turn the lights blue, but you want the middle switch to remain orange so there is a pathway visible through it.

Go through this barrel and on the other side will be a door. Flip the switch to open the door and follow the path along to the right to find the Relic Chest. Open up the Chest to receive the “The Vineyards Insignia” Relic as well as this trophy.

If you are having trouble locating these or also need help with the Experience Chests and/or Melira fight in this area, please reference the video below:

Find all relics in the Red Plains of Oblena.

Missable

There are 11 Relics you need to find in the Red Plains:

  • The Equilibrium War (Silver The Three Tower)
  • Imp (Silver 2 Fast 2 Furious)
  • Past Ghosts (Silver Ghostbusters)
  • Pan with Royal Army’s Seal (Silver Maximus “the Gladiator”)
  • Mask of the Sonii (Silver A walk to remember)
  • Ghoul
  • Mr. Lich
  • Burnt Black Book
  • Marsh Monster
  • Runner
  • SkullThrower

5 have trophies associated with them (trophy names are listed next to the relics above).

The other 6 are scattered throughout the Red Plains, but they will always be a part of some sort of structure/landmark. Using the Temple of the Elder Protectors as a South marker, the locations of the 6 non-trophy related Relics are as follows:

  • Ghoul Relic – Located in the ghoul encampment just southwest of the Harmony Obelisks
  • Mr. Lich – Located in another ghoul encampment directly west of the Stadium where you earn Silver 2 Fast 2 Furious
  • Burnt Black Book – Located just North of the Vineyards, towards the Eastern side
  • Marsh Monster – Located just in front of the Temple of Oblena, a little on the west side of the main entrance
  • Runner – Follow the river right outside of the Coliseum North/West and you’ll run into an encampment. The chest is on the pier.
  • SkullThrower – Just South of Windmills City, on the west side, is a ghoul encampment with some wooden scaffolding structures

You can get all 11 in one go along with a handful of Experience Chests if you use the route provided in this video:

If you prefer to wing it and try to find the locations on your own, there is a stone map on the ground near the Harmony Obelisks:

Each image corresponds with a Chest so you can use this to pinpoint the locations you need to find.

Make sure you pick up all 11 before you enter the Temple of Oblena. Before you enter the Temple to face off with Melira one final time, you will be prompted with a warning message letting you know that you are about to pass the point of no return. Make sure you have collected all 11 (and earned the Gold Collector trophy as well) before proceeding. If you’ve missed any, you’ll need to start a whole new game to get them.

Once you have picked up all 11, the trophy will unlock.

Defeat Melira at the Temple of the Elder Protectors.

Story Related

You’ll encounter Melira at the very end of the Temple of the Elder Protectors level. The main thing you need to look out for is the red glowing circle that appears under you. It’ll eventually form into a pattern and you’ll audibly hear Melira let out a “h-yah” as a large spike raises up from the circle. Make sure you jump out of the way of this to avoid being hit.

While this is going on, she will spawn a constant stream of enemies that you need to defeat in order to damage her (Melira). There will be 3 waves total, so once you have completed all 3 waves of enemies, Melira will go down and the trophy will unlock.

The fight will autosave after each “hit” Melira takes, so if you die at any point during the encounter, you won’t have to restart the fight all over again.

If you’re having trouble, please reference the video provided under Silver Tomb raider as it includes the Relics, Experience Chests, and the boss fight.

Defeat Melira at Windmills City.

Story Related

This will be either the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time you encounter Melira, depending on what order you do Windmill Town, Woodborn, and The Vineyards, though it is recommended you do Windmill Town first.

You’ll encounter her at the very end of the level and it will be the same fight aspects as your encounter with her in The Temple of the Elder Protectors. Keep an eye out for the red circle below you to avoid the large spike that she summons. Outside of that, there will be another 3 waves of enemies that you need to take down in order to defeat her. As with the previous fight, the game will autosave after each “hit” that Melira takes so if you happen to die at any point, you won’t have to start the fight all over again, just from the last point she took damage.

If you’re having trouble, please reference the video provided under Silver The librarian as it includes the Relics, Experience Chests, and the boss fight.

Defeat Melira at Woodborn.

Story Related

This will be either the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time you encounter Melira, depending on what order you do Windmill Town, Woodborn, and The Vineyards, though it is recommended you do Woodborn second.

This fight varies drastically from your encounters with her in The Temple of the Elder Protectors and Windmills City. Instead of summoning enemies, you’ll be battling against conveyor belts and saws. Melira will still summon a circle below you so you do still have to pay attention to that (and the subsequent spike that spawns from it), but your focus will need to be not getting sawed in half or smashed by pistons.

Along the way, there will be 3 switches in the middle that you need to hit. Each one will damage Melira. After the 3rd hit, she’ll go down and the trophy will unlock.

Unlike the encounters at the Temple of the Elder Protectors and Windmills City, this fight must be done all in one go. If you die at any point, you’ll start over from the beginning of the “course”. If you’re having trouble, please reference the video provided under Silver The Searcher as it includes the Relics, Experience Chests, and the boss fight.

Defeat Melira at The Vineyards.

Story Related

This will be either the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time you encounter Melira, depending on what order you do Windmill Town, Woodborn, and The Vineyards, though it is recommended you do The Vineyards third.

For this fight, you’ll find yourself in a large area on a ring. You’ll need to jump across obstacles to reach the different platforms and hit the 3 switches. Each time all 3 switches are activated, Melira will take a hit. Throughout the fight, you will still need to avoid the red circle that spawns the large spike (it will appear even as you’re jumping across obstacles so just be careful).

She’ll take a total of 3 hits so you need to activate all 3 switches 3 separate times. The game autosaves after each “hit” she takes, so if you happen to die at any point, you won’t need to start the fight over from the beginning, just from where her most recent hit happened. Once she has been hit for the 3rd and final time, the trophy will unlock.

If you’re having trouble, please reference the video provided under Silver Taster of stories as it includes the Relics, Experience Chests, and the boss fight.

Speed lover
Reach the maximum speed surfing.

You will most likely get this naturally, but if you don’t, you will need to be going Maximum speed to win the race for Silver 2 Fast 2 Furious. You’ll need to hit 2-3 boosters in a row to reach top speed and when you do, your screen will start to blur on the sides. It’ll last for a second or two before slowing back down, but as soon as you hit that top speed, the trophy will unlock.

Vigorous
Upgrade Galand’s power for the first time.

Story Related

It is impossible not to get this trophy on your travels. Even if you decide to break nothing along the way, open no Experience Chests, or pick up any runes, you will still be required to kill enough enemies to unlock the trophy before you finish the game.

Fill the meter on the top left of the screen to upgrade Galand’s power. You need to do this just once for the trophy.
