Difficulty: 4/10

Glitched trophies: None

Playthroughs: 2 (3 Recommended)

Introduction:

Welcome to the Darksiders Genesis Trophy Guide! Play as Strife and War in your journey to take down Moloch and help Samael.

Roadmap:

Step 1: Complete the game on Easy or Normal / Side Quests / Some Collectibles / Core Farming

During this step I recommend starting on a lower difficulty first to help build your character’s power level. You will also focus on collecting the maps for each chapter and just collecting some collectibles as you go. Don’t worry about collecting them all during this playthrough, as some will be tied behind abilities you don’t have yet.

You will also need to complete all of the side quests tied to trophies on this playthorugh. You can do this now, or wait until you have a higher power level to make things a tad easier. Once you have completed the game once  you can either do some farming in the Arena to raise your power level some more, or head right into the next step.

During this step you’ll be earning these trophies:

Bronze Mammon
Bronze Belial
Bronze Astarte
Bronze Dagon
Silver Moloch
Silver Master of Strife
Silver Master of War
Silver A Bullet for All Seasons
Silver Walking Armory
Bronze Mint I
Silver Mint II
Bronze Soul Cache
Bronze Hell’s Forge
Bronze Close the Rift
Silver Respect for Animals
Bronze The Dead Court
Bronze Why’d it Have to be Snakes?
Bronze Good Deeds
Bronze Infested
Bronze Ready to Blow
Bronze Demolition Derby

Step 2: Complete the Game on Hard / Rest of the Collectibles / More Core Farming

During this step your main focus will be completing the campaign on hard difficulty while finding the rest of the collectibles. (This includes the Trickster doors) If you find yourself struggling at any point, head to the arena and continue farming creature cores to help raise your power level.

You should also collect the rest of the collectibles during this run so that you can focuse on apocalyptic difficulty and nothing else. Once you have found all of the collectibles and completed all of the main chapters on hard, go face wicked killington to unlock the Hard difficulty trophy.

After this, you need to focus on raising your power levels to 1500-1600. Once this is done, you are ready for apocalyptic difficulty in step 3.

During this step you’ll earn these trophies:

Gold Full of Hell
Gold Mint III
Gold Gatekeeper
Gold Wicked Killington

Step 3: Complete the game on Apocalyptic Difficulty

During this step your only task will be to complete the game on apocalyptic difficulty. Your power level needs to be around 1600 for your characters before I suggest attempting this. If you need to raise your power level, it is easiest to farm creature cores in the Arena mode.

After completing all of main story chapter on Apocalyptic difficulty, you need to defeat Wicked Killington to unlock this trophy. Once he is defeated, you will unlock the Apocalyptic trophy and you will be ready for the final step.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:

Gold The Promised End

Step 4: Boatman Coins in Labyrinth / Creature Cores / Arena Mode / Clean Up / Platinum

Here you will now be able to be a high enough level to take on the Arena mode and reach 70,000 points. Once done, head to the Labyrinth and collect all 12 of the boatman coins that you should now have access to. You also should only need the Leviathan core at this point which can also be found in the void.

If you do not have the platinum by now, simply clean up any of the remaining trophies you need. The only one you might need by now is defeating Moloch without being hit. Just change the difficulty to casual, and you should have it in a few attempts. Once done, if following my guide you should have yourself a new platinum trophy. Congratulations!

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:

Gold Are You Not Entertained?
Silver Collector
Silver Blademaster
Silver Garden of Forking Paths
40-platinum Not Alone

Trophy Guide:

Not Alone
Earn all trophies.

This trophy is earned after collecting all of the other trophies in the game. Congratulations on adding a new platinum to your collection!

Mammon
Defeat Mammon, Lord of Hell.

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after defeating Mammon, Lord of Hell.

You will face Mammon in chapter 6, and he will be the first real boss of the game. He is an impish like demon that is stored away with all of his gold and artifacts. Mammon is a straight forward boss with some basic attacks that are easily avoidable.

He will occasionally dive into his gold to teleport to other locations during this fight. He will also start spawning artifacts that will attack you later into the fight. You can get rid of the artifacts or just continue attacking Mammon while dodging them. Just continue to attack Mammon until his health bar at the bottom of the screen has been depleted.

Once done, you will be prompted to get close to him and interact with the button. After that, you will trigger the cut scene and unlock this trophy.

Belial
Defeat Belial, Lord of Hell.

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after defeating Belial, Lord of Hell.

Belial is the second boss in the game, and will be faced in chapter 9. You will start this mission by having to do some minor platforming before having to use War’s Vorpal Blade to open up the door. Once inside, you will see Belial in the distance. Jump down to initiate the cut scene and the fight.

Belial is a creature of plague and corruption. He will be able to use his staff throughout the entirety of the fight to make him stronger and healthier. There will also be sequences where he is invincible, and will pull enemies into him to make him stronger as well. Defeat the enemies as he is pulling them in to prevent him from doing so.

There will be minor enemies to deal with during this fight as well. Just continue to focus your fire on Belial while dealing with the additional enemies, before you get overwhelmed. After you have lowered all of Belial’s health, you will need to approach him and press the button to finish him off as well as trigger the cut scene. After the cut scene, you will unlock this trophy.

Astarte
Defeat Astarte, Fallen Angel.

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after defeating Astarte, Fallen Angel.

Astarte is the third boss in the game, and will be faced in chapter 10. Astarte is a corrupted angel who lingers on Eden. She is one of the, if not the most annoying and/or challenging bosses in the game. She has also transformed herself into a bestial form, and is very mobile the entirety of the fight.

Astarte will run in circles around the center of the map the entire fight. You will have to run with her while firing, or just run in the opposite direction of her to catch up so that you can damage her. Each time you take a fourth of her health away, she will fall over and become invincible while she does a few dash attacks. You cannot damage her here, so just continue to dodge until she starts running again.

To make matters worse, she constantly spawns fairly strong enemies with a good amount of health. Most of the time additional enemies dont cause problems in boss fights, but these ones do. Be sure to take them out as they spawn to make things easier on yourself. Just continue to attack Astarte while she runs in circles.

Each time she falls over, the circle she runs will get tighter and tighter to the center of the map. Once all of her health has been depleted, you will have to run up to her and press the button to finish her off. Once done, the cut scene will be triggered and you will unlock this trophy.

Dagon
Defeat Dagon, Lord of Hell.

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after defeating Dagon, Lord of Hell.

Dagon is the fourth boss of the game, and will be faced in chapter 13. He is also known as the Drowned King, and is a water based enemy. He is a very large Sea like demon with tentacles and large teeth. He is also a pretty straight forward boss, and very easy to defeat.

Once you start this chapter you will have to jump across a couple of platforms before using a blue aura ball to help glide you over to the final platform. Continue on and you will trigger a cut scene followed by the fight. Dagon has some easily dodged attacks, and has a very large hitbox. This makes strife the go to player for this fight as you are able to stay back and attack from a distance.

Dagon has one attack that makes him invincible for a duration of time. He will summon waves of water and push them towards you in an attempt to knock you off of the map. When he does this, just use the blue aura that you used to reach this platform to avoid the waves. He will do this a few times throughout the fight, so just dodge them and continue on with the fight.

Dagon will also spawn in enemies that are best to just deal with as they spawn. Once you have depleted all of Dagon’s health you will have to approach him and finish him off with the button. Once done, you will trigger the cut scene and unlock this trophy.

Moloch upscale-245262160018212
Defeat Moloch, Lord of Hell.

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after defeating Moloch, Lord of Hell.

Moloch is the final story related boss in the game, and will be faced in chapter 16. Moloch is a demon warlord who has constantly locked horns with Samael. Moloch has taken over Samael’s fortress, and has been granted a powerful army thanks to Lucifer. Moloch is still easily defeated, and will not take much skill ind doing so.

Moloch is the only boss fight in the entire game where it is just a 1v1 situation. He will not spawn additional enemies, and you will only have to worry about him and his attacks. His attacks are very distinguishable and avoidable. You will be able to see them coming from afar, and have plenty of time to get out of the way.

Moloch will lunge towards you and attack you with a few swings from his blade. Simply get out of the way when he lunges, and continue to fire with strafe. He will occasionally leave a path of flames behind him that will also damage you if you step into them. One more attack he will do is summon purple crystals from beneath you. Be sure you are not stepping on any of the purple indicators that crystals are coming. Standing in the middle of the map seems to avoid them.

Once he summons the crystals, he will do another move to explode them. If you use strife the entire fight (recommended), then you will be able to use your ultimate ability when Moloch is down to about 25% health. (Depending on what difficulty you are on). Just continue to fire at him while dodging all of his attacks. Moloch is honestly one of the easier bosses in the game, he just does a lot of damage with a single hit.

Once you have depleted all of his health, you will need to run up to him and press the button to finish him off. Once done, the cut scene will be triggered and you will unlock this trophy. You will also need to defeat Moloch without being hit to unlock the Silver Blademaster trophy.

Are You Not Entertained? Gold
Achieve a score of 70,000 or higher in the arena.

This trophy is unlocked after achieving a score of 70,000 or higher in the arena.

The arena is unlocked after you have successfully defeated Mammon in chapter 6 of the main story. The arena can be used to rack up AP to get awesome rewards, as well as used to farm creature cores and souls. In order to be able to get this trophy however, it will require you to unlock endless arena which will take a few more steps.

You must first complete all 16 of the main story chapter to gain access to the final set of arena missions. By doing so, you will unlock all of the XIV-XX arenas. Once you have done so, you must complete all of these arena missions to gain access to Endless. Each arena will consist of 10 waves, and get harder as the arenas go on. Once you have completed wave 10 of each of the arenas, you will now have access to Endless.

Endless Arena acts the same as the other ones except for the fact that you can continue to play until you either die or simply get tired and want to quit. It is also the only arena where you can get 70,000 points in. There will also be a boss wave every 5 waves. Each time you complete a boss wave you will as a .25X to your score multiplier. In order to get to 70,000 points you will need to reach around wave 72-73. It might sound like a lot, but its not too bad with powerful characters and only takes 45 minutes to at most an hour to reach this far.

It is recommended to be around power level 1,500 before attempting this trophy. It can be more or less, its just obviously easier the stronger you are. Try to be fully upgraded / have all of the upgrades purchased from Vulgrim. Doing so will not only grant you the use of 6 potions, but will also allow you to regenerate health and potions at the same time. If you need to farm creature cores to power up, simply play any of the Arenas that have the cores you are after.

Once you are confident with your abilities and the power levels of Strife and War, then you are ready to enter the arena. The non boss waves consist of a lot of weaker / smaller enemies that are easily taken out with strife. You can also easily build up your hotstreak meter and then use secondary fire to easily take out these waves of enemies. You can also use War once you have your ultimate with strife filled up so that you can start to build up War’s ultimate. Doing so will allow you to use both of the ultimates on the boss waves.

Continue playing until you have reached 70,000+ points. You can see your total in the top right of your screen at all times. Once you have reached at least 70,000 points you will either need to end the arena from the pause menu, or kill off both of your characters. Once the Arena has ended, you will unlock this trophy assuming you have at least the 70,000 required points.

Full of Hell Gold
Complete all 17 levels on Hard difficulty.

This trophy is unlocked after completing all 17 levels on Hard difficulty.

You will need to complete all 16 of the main story quests, as well as defeat the secret trickster enemy known as Wicked Killington on Hard difficulty to unlock this trophy. Hard is also available from the beginning, but it is recommended to play hard on a second playthrough. You can change the difficulty at any time after you have completed the first mission of the game. You can do this by pressing the buttong from the chapter select menu.

For more information on how to earn this trophy as well as tips and tricks on the difficulty related trophies themselves, please view the Gold The Promised End trophy. You will need to defeat the game on Apocalyptic difficulty which is not one, but two difficulties above hard.

The Promised End Gold
Complete all 17 levels on Apocalyptic difficulty.

This trophy is unlocked after completing all 17 levels on Apocalyptic difficulty.

You will need to complete all 16 main story missions as well as the secret boss Wicked Killington on Apocalyptic difficulty to unlock this trophy. Apocalyptic difficulty is unlocked after you have successfully completed chapters 1-16 on any difficulty. Apocalyptic difficulty is also the hardest difficulty in the game.

The recommended power level for each and every chapter on Apocalyptic difficulty will be set to 1,900. With everything maxed out, the highest you can possibly reach is about 1,600 with your characters. This means that you will always be under the recommended power level when playing apocalyptic difficulty, and there is no way to reach any higher. Once you have reached around power level 1,600 then you are ready for this playthrough.

I recommend saving this trophy for last as well as doing it on a 3rd playthrough. This will ensure that you are powered up enough or at least close enough to the point where minimal core farming is required to reach that power level. Although you will be a lower power level than what is recommended, the game is not too difficult. If you have all of the upgrades, including the ones from Vulgrim that benefit your health and regeneration, you will be fine.

You can change the difficulty at any time after you have completed the first mission of the game. You can do this by pressing the button from the chapter select menu. After completing all 16 of the main chapters on apocalyptic difficulty, you will still need to defeat Wicked Killington. You can access him to the left of Vulgrim’s shop in the void. You will first need to open up all of the trickster doors in the game to access this one. For more information on Wicked Killington and the Trickster doors, please view the Gold Gatekeeper and Gold Wicked Killington trophies.

Once all 16 chapters and Wicked Killington have been defeated on Apocalyptic difficulty, you will unlock this trophy.

Collector upscale-245262160018212
Collect every type of creature core.

This trophy is obtained by collecting every type of creature core in the game.

Creature cores are random drops from enemies that can be used to increase your power level for War and Strife. Each time you collect a new core, it will appear on the screen telling you what it is. You can see all of your collected cores from the creature core menu. Each time a core has been dropped, you must pick it up with the button.

There are also creature cores that can only be purchased from Vulgrim’s shop for souls. You will need to buy all of his “fixed” creature cores in the shop (Only level 1 cores are required), and you can also buy the random ones in an attempt to clean up ones you are missing. If you collect enough of a single creature core, it will level up. Thankfully, you only need to collect a single creature core and not fully upgrade any of them for the purpose of this trophy.

All of the creature cores that can be found throughout the main story chapters can also be cleaned up in the arena mode. Arena mode is unlocked after completing chapter 5 of the story, and is by far the best way to farm and unlock new creature cores. You can see which creatures are located in a specific arena by selecting the creature info option before entering the arena. The only creature specifically tied to the arena is the Corrupted Tidehunter.

You can also tell if the creature is collected by looking below each chapter / arena at the creature list. If they are blurred out or hidden, that means they need to be collected. You will also need to get the creature core for Wicked Killington located in the secret trickster door next to Vulgrim’s shop. There is also one core known as the “Leviathan Core” that can only be collected by completing a very hard platforming sequence in the void.

For a video on how to obtain the Leviathan Core, please look below. Once all 67 creature cores have been found, you will unlock this trophy.

Icebind Cavern is chapter 4 of the game. Before being able to unlock this trophy, you must progress far enough to unlock the Void Bomb with strife. The void bomb is unlocked through playing naturally. Once you have the void bomb, you will need to go to a very specific location to access the rift.

From the start of the mission if you head upwards, you will eventually pass a bunch of exploding barrels. Continue forwards and make your first right and you will come to a location where you must throw two of your newly acquired void bombs. Once through, you will notice the rift to the left. Simply defeat the few enemies coming out of it to close the rift.

Once the enemies have been defeated, the rift will close on its own and you will unlock this trophy.

Respect For Animals upscale-245262160018212
Defeat less than 5 hounds before killing the Houndmaster in The Horde.

This trophy is unlocked after defeating less than 5 hounds before killing the houndmaster in the Horde.

The Horde is chapter 5 of the game. In this chapter there will be a boss known as the houndmaster. You will need to defeat this boss while killing less than 5 hounds in the process. This includes hounds during the fight, as well as all of the hounds leading up to the fight. The easiest way to go about getting this trophy is taking the alternate / shortcut route to the boss.

Once inside the shortcut you will come to a puzzle that you will need to solve with your void bombs. You will need to do the puzzle very quickly as there are a lot of hounds in this area, and they will overwhelm you if you take too long to solve the puzzle. Once the puzzle has been solved, continue the newly opened path until you eventually reach a cut scene as well as the houndmaster boss.

This is the boss that you must defeat. It is easiest to only use strife to attack the boss. War is stronger, but his attacks have a high radius and can easily kill a hound in 1-2 accidental hits. It is also best to just drain houndmaster’s health completely and not execute him with the prompt. This is because you will likely damage and/or kill multiple hounds in the process if they are nearby. You can kill up to 4 hounds in the process. As long as you don’t kill more than 4, you will not be locked out of this trophy. If you happen to kill 5 or more hounds, you will need to restart the entire chapter.

Below are two videos. One will show you a legit way to earn this trophy, while the other will show you an exploit that allows you to easily get this trophy with no skill required.

You will need to defeat the Dread Lord, Baron, and Knight. All 3 of these enemies are large, and have a health bar at the bottom of the screen. All 3 are easily defeated though.

While the dread lord is story related, the baron and knight will be off of the story path. Once you find the map for this level, all 3 of the enemies will be shown on the map as well with big red icons. Once you have successfully defeated all 3 of the dread walkers, you will unlock this trophy.

This trophy is earned after defeating every snake in Decay.

There are a total of 7 snakes that need to be defeated. Snakes are very hard to see, and will run away if you get too close / miss your shots. It is best to take them down from afar with Strife, as they will die in 1-2 hits. They have a very small hitbox so be sure that you are accurate when shooting. If they slither away, you will have to restart the entire chapter.

The good news is that all 7 of the snakes can be defeated within 3 minutes of starting the mission. The snakes on this mission tend to be buggy, and it has been reported that some of the snakes can now only be defeated while using Strife’s laser ammunition after building up the hotstreak meter for additional damage. Although buggy, the trophy is still obtainable.  The snakes will be located in 3 locations. There will be 2 groups of 2, and then the last group of 3 is located in a hidden cave.

Once all 7 snakes have been defeated, you will unlock this trophy. For a video on the location of all the snakes and how to defeat them, please view below:

Defeat Moloch without taking damage.

This trophy is earned after defeating Moloch without taking damage.

Just be sure to play on casual so that you are able to deplete his health with your ultimate. You can also not take any damage when in your ultimate, so just focus on him. Just continue to fire at him while dodging all of his attacks.

Once you have depleted all of his health, you will need to run up to him and press the button to finish him off. If you manage to get hit, you will have to restart from the very beginning. If you save this trophy for last, you will be a high enough power level to make this as easy as possible. It is the hardest trophy in the game, but you will get it after a few tries nonetheless.

Once you have successfully defeated Moloch without taking any damage, you will unlock this trophy. For a video of this boss fight and how to earn this trophy, please view below:

Face the Trickster himself, Wicked Killington.

This trophy is earned after you have defeated Wicked Killington.

Wicked Killington can only be faced once you have opened all 12 of the trickster doors in the game. For more information on how to unlock all of the trickster doors in the game, please view the Gold Gatekeeper trophy. Wicked Killington is a skeleton like enemy who is behind all of the trickster doors in the game.

You can access this fight by going to the left of Vulgrim’s shop and using your trickster keys to open up the giant door here. Once the door has been opened, the fight will begin. Wicked is a pretty straight forward enemy. You can use strife to easily pick him off and avoid his few attacks. Just keep firing at Wicked and build up your ultimate meter. Once your meter is full, you can use that to deal a massive amount of damage to him.

This boss also needs to be defeated on the respective difficulties to unlock the apocalyptic and hard trophies as well.
