Introduction:
Welcome to the Arizona Sunshine Trophy Guide!
Arizona Sunshine is a zombie shooter VR game set in the sun-baked landscapes of the Arizona desert. The nice bright visuals and surroundings is a welcome change from the usual grey and drab urban landscapes most zombie games offer. Arizona Sunshine has a good campaign of 8 levels, each with their own new environment to explore from the desert, canyons, mines, trailer parks; while hunting for better weapons and more ammo, and do what ever it takes to survive the horde.
The entire campaign can be played coop, from the start you get a 1 player or 2 player option. But this does not include Apocalypse Mode, that has to be done solo for some reason. Horde mode can be played solo or with up to 4 online partners, and it is here in the multiplayer section where you will need to grab the only trophy that requires you to join forces with another player for Last Man Standing.
The trophy list is quite straightforward except for 2 trophies that can be challenging and bump the difficulty up, Hard Boiled and
The Sheriff has arrived! Hard boiled is for beating the hardest difficulty and has to be done solo, The sheriff is for killing 600 in horde mode without dying which thankfully can be done co-op, alternatively there is a crafty trick method detailed below…
Â
Roadmap:
Step 1: First campaign playthrough on easy. Getting all miscellaneous trophies, guns and ducks.
The campaign is made up of 8 levels, that will take you between 10-30 minutes each to complete depending on your play style if you like to explore or rush through! The miscellaneous trophies are quite easy and not too much to worry about, and most of them are also cumulative. Just keep your eye on collecting the few guns and ducks, eating burgers, blowing some zombies up, and getting headshots, and you’ll be good. And anything missed can be retrieved via chapter select at the end.
You need to begin this playthrough on story mode (you can play on easy) because there are none of the guns or burgers in apocalypse mode. On the easy difficulty there will be ammo EVERYWHERE so you will get Master Scavenger very easily here. Enjoy the game getting a feel for the controls and the levels, and remember at what part of each level the large horde attack will commence, ready for the apocalypse run which will be significantly tougher.
Start work on the 3 time related trophies, for playing for 2 hours straight, 3 hours straight, and 4 hours straight. When you’re done for the day, hit the XMB button mid-game and leave the application open and your ps4 in rest mode. That is the only way to pause the timer. If you close the game, the timer will reset.
You’ll be earning these trophies: Eye see you..

VR Creep!
Step 2: Apocalypse Mode.
Apocalypse mode is the hardest difficulty in the game. These are the differences:
1. There is much less ammo around.
2. You only get one gun – the standard pistol.
3. One hit will kill you.
4. There are no checkpoints – you will be taken to the beginning of whichever level you were on.
I think it has slightly been patched, adding some more ammo into the mode, making it much more manageable than before. I was killing most of the zombies and didn’t quite fully run out of ammo so I think you’ll be ok. Once you have got to grips with it, and once you pass level one, the rest is all quite doable.
See the trophy guide below for extra tips on how to pass trickier spots in the levels.
Part way through this second playthrough, the distance trophy will unlock too.
During this step you’ll earn these trophies:
A Thousand Miles
Hard Boiled
Step 3: Horde Mode.
Horde mode is the wave based multiplayer section of the game. But it can also be played solo. There is only 1 trophy where you NEED another player, Last Man Standing, where all you have to do is survive the current wave that your partner died in. It can easily and quickly be achieved in a few minutes by jumping into the lobbies – that are seemingly active, and having a quick game or 2 with a random until you last longer than them and the trophy pops.
The main thing you need to remember for waves is keep your eye on the amount of zombies left, the next wave will not start until they are all dead. So purposefully leave the last one alive, and use this moment to go and safely restock all your ammo.
The 600 kills trophy is for a streak before it is game over, it is not cumulative. If you are playing solo you will reach the 600 kill target in around 30 minutes and wave 32.
During this step you’ll earn the following trophies: Last Man Standing
Skull Cracker
We have ourselves a Cowboy
The Sheriff has arrived!
Go Outside
*NOTE: An additional 6 DLC trophies have been added, here is my guide for the DLC Link:Â https://dexdotexe.com/arizona-sunshine-dead-man-dlc-trophy-guide/

![]() ![]() Shoot with a sniper in the game |
In Level 5 – Traintracks.
When you reach the roof and have to listen to the radio to progress, the Sniper Rifle is right next to the radio on this roof.
It is advisable to use this to kill all of the zombies around the trains below, as the sniper rifle has unlimited ammo. You cannot take it with you so make the most of it while its there.
![]() ![]() Pick up all shovels inside the shop in the level Sunshine |
During level 8 – Sunshine Village
There will be 3 shovels to pick up, located in the shop next to the green motel. Nice and simple miscellaneous trophy.
Thanks to Platinum Hunter for the Video

Complete level 7 – Trailerpark.
Horde attack tip:
A horde will come when you have detonated the explosives. On the side is a clear longer area, its nice and simple to stand at the end of here and wait as its funnels them in and only coming at you from one direction. Shoot runners in the legs to slow them down, and you should be fine. Alternatively you can go inside a trailer where you will be invincible! Inside any trailers or buildings if you shut the door behind you, you can shoot and kill zombies through the windows, but they cannot get inside to you! It’s crazy but kinda brilliant lol.
![]() ![]() Listen to the radio in the level Sunshine |
Story related, cannot be missed. This will unlock during Level 8.
![]() ![]() Complete the entire campaign! |
Awarded for completing all levels on any difficulty:
Level 1 – Base
Level 2 – Bridge
Level 3 – Canyon
Level 4 – Caves
Level 5 – Traintracks
Level 6 – Refinery
Level 7 – Trailerpark
Level 8 – Sunshine Village
![]() ![]() Finish the level Canyon |
Complete level 3 – Canyon.
Horde attack tip:
The horde will come when you pull the lever and you see the animation of the horde pushing tanks and buses off the cliff. The lever is in front of a long walkway to the entrance of the mine/caves surrounded by railings. If you stand at the far end of this right next to the mine entrance, the zombies can only come at you from straight ahead, causing a choke point, making it much easier for you to take them down not having to move your gun much. Remember to go for the legs to slow everyone down.
![]() ![]() Be the only survivor in Horde Mode |
You need to arrange to play with a friend, or jump into the multiplayer lobby and see if anyone is online. 9 times out of 10 I found someone just by joining the lobby.
Note: If you are playing co-op with a friend, only the host will get the trophy.
Quite simply when your partner dies, just survive that current wave. The trophy will instantly pop when the next wave begins. This trophy will be very quick and easy to get, as there is no such thing as hardened veteran Arizona Sunshine players, everyone in the multiplayer lobbies is either just messing about or just wants this trophy like us.
![]() ![]() Collect some loot! |
See Master Scavenger.
![]() ![]() Collect a ton of loot! |
This trophy is awarded for collecting ammo.
If you are playing story mode on easy difficulty there is a huge amount of ammo everywhere and you will easily unlock this trophy before you reach the end.
![]() ![]() Kill 300 zombies in Horde Mode (streak) |
See The Sheriff has arrived!
![]() ![]() Kill 600 zombies in Horde Mode (streak) |
You can get this solo or in a multiplayer game of up to 4 players.
Ammo and goodies will respawn at the ammo box at the start of each wave. Leave the last zombie of each wave alive while you at that point can safely go and grab all the ammo, grenades, and new and better guns. In the later waves, wave 20+, I would recommend mainly using your machine gun.
To reach the 600 kills target if you are solo will take around 30 minutes and occur at wave 32.
It is certainly a challenging trophy, so if you are struggling and would like to make it easier, there is a trick you can use HERE. It does work, and really does give you a big advantage.
![]() ![]() Play the game for 4 hours in a row |
It is not cumulative so if you close the game the timer will reset to zero.
When you have finished your Arizona Sunshine session for the day, press the XMB button mid-game, leave the application open, and put your ps4 into rest mode. That is the only way to pause the timer, and to continue your progress.
![]() ![]() Play for a total of 3 hours |
See VR Creep!
![]() ![]() Finish the level Sunshine |
Complete level 8 – Sunshine.
Horde attack tip:
A Horde will come when you exit the shop next to the green motel. Very easy, just go back inside the shop. I like to go upstairs and look over the balcony, and drop a grenade on their heads while they’re all huddled together below me.
Finale Horde attack tip:
This horde is insatiable!
And it feels like a long time waiting to be rescued. Cues for you are your character will do 2 or 3 lines of dialogue before the helicopter arrives. If you have good gun skills then sure, stay there and stand your ground and take them all on until the helicopter arrives, but I kept dying. So I tried to find a cheese method. If you want a slower and safer method then you can go back inside the radio tower, and through the door on the other side. From here shoot some through the window, and lean over the balcony to shoot the others outside. When they’re dead quickly go to the top of the stairs and back again which will trigger another bunch of zombies, do the same, after a couple it will trigger dialogue. Rinse repeat, and then you will see your helicopter has arrived. Time it right for when to run from the top of the stairs to the rope hanging from the helicopter to complete the level!
![]() ![]() Kill 400 zombies in Horde Mode (streak) |
See The Sheriff has arrived!
![]() ![]() Shoot with the Machine Gun in the Refinery |
Level 6 – Refinery.
You will enter an open area with a mounted machine gun quite clearly in front of you. If you somehow hadn’t noticed the machine gun you will definitely die in the next section! because there is a relentless horde coming. This trophy is pretty unmissable.
![]() ![]() Climb the scaffold in the level Traintracks |
Story related, cannot be missed. This will unlock during Level 5.
![]() ![]() Finish the level Refinery |
Complete level 6 – Refinery.
Horde attack tip:
The horde will come when you have pulled the lever to open the gates. Next to that office right next to the gates is a little concrete pen that had 1 zombie in it. If you go inside this concrete pen up against the side right next to the gates, even though there is a little opening big enough for you to get through, for some reason the zombies don’t come in this area so you are safe! Also very close for when you need to time it right to make the run to the next lever to close the gates… from there you’re on your own.
Another horde will come where you pick up the door chip key. I just stood next to the furthest away Humvee and was ok. You could try making a run for it and closing the grey door behind you, might not even have to kill any. Untested!
![]() ![]() Finish the level Traintracks |
Complete level 5 – Traintracks.
Horde attack tip:
On top of the train just shoot everyone in the legs and you’ll be fine. And at the end in the tunnel, is totally easy just run past them all up the right hand side and through the door, you don’t even have to kill any.
![]() ![]() Finish the level Caves |
Complete level 4 – Caves.
The worst level, but you’ll be ok with this technique.
Horde attack tip:
The horde will come when you pull the lever out of the corpses back. If you have your back against the rocks, facing the entrance you came in from, if you look to the right will be a tunnel with a boarded up exit (but the zombies can crawl under this), if you look to the left there is a tunnel also with a boarded up exit, but this side is MORE boarded up and the zombies will not be able to access you from this side. So as soon as you grab the lever run through the left tunnel and get your back against the boarded up exit, thus filtering the zombies towards you all from one direction. Be wary of a crack in the tunnel in a North-East direction from you that a couple trickle in through, especially at the start. It is also pretty dark so good luck.
Final horde attack trick!:
This horde will come at the end when you turn the elevator on. The elevator is surrounded by a cage. If from the cage gate you stand in the North-West corner inside the cage, so you are stood in the narrow part inbetween with the cage wall on your back and the back of the elevator infront of you. The zombies won’t come at you. This corner spot keeps you completely safe till the elevator arrives.
![]() ![]() Collect all the guns in the game |
Steam/PC says there are 24 guns needed to be unlocked, I’m unsure if that is the same for ps4, and there is also at this point no definitive answer as to which guns are specifically needed, but if you follow this list/video your trophy will definitely unlock as mine did. (I’m afraid I don’t know the official names of the gun types and I can’t find any info on them online! So i’m going to have to be vague, but I will link a locations video for you anyway.)
You just need to pick the gun up and put it down again. (You can only carry 4 guns anyway). Fire a round off if you want to be sure it registered.

31. Level 8 Sunshine Village – Same spot – Assault Rifle type.
32. And there is 4 guns on the table at the finale with the helicopter.
If you have missed any you can go back and grab them via chapter select at the end, the trophy will instantly pop when you pick up the last missing gun.

![]() ![]() Kill all zombies that are locked up in the cage in Canyon |
Level 3 – Canyon.
At the start of the level on the left hand side next to the bridge barricade that you have to blow up, will be a yellow cage with about 3 zombies inside. Just kill them all with your weapon of choice and the trophy will instantly unlock.

Complete Level 1 – Base.
This is basically the prologue, to ease you into the game.
![]() ![]() Throw a duck |

![]() ![]() Collect all the ducks in the game |
There are only 4 ducks to find throughout the game. Pick them up and give them a squeeze with the trigger button to be sure it registered.

3. Level 5 Traintracks – On the desk of the upstairs office on your way to the roof.
4. Level 8 Sunshine Village – In the green motel, in the room with the bar on your way to getting the room key.

![]() ![]() Kill 20 zombies using grenades |
This is cumulative but will likely pop through natural progression anyway. If not, load up Level 3 Canyon where you know immediately at the start in the tent you can pick up 2 grenades, and kill the 5-7 zombies in that area next to you with them, kill yourself, rinse repeat.
If playing co-op, I believe this trophy is host only.
![]() ![]() Finish the level Bridge |
Complete level 2- Bridge.
Horde attack tip:
You are invincible inside buildings that have the doors closed, zombies can’t open doors so you are completely safe in any closed room, and the great part is you can still kill the zombies trough the windows and over the balconies from these safe rooms. The horde will come when you set the car alarm off, when the alarm starts run back into the building where you got the car key from and go upstairs. You can either shoot them through the window or look over the balcony and shoot the ones that have entered the ground floor, while you remain safe. When you can’t see any more or very few zombies, or when you hear your characters dialogue saying the horde is done then you can continue.
![]() ![]() Kill 50 zombies with a Headshot |
See Headshots like a Boss!
![]() ![]() Walk a distance of 10 miles |
This is cumulative. This unlocked for me about half way through my second playthrough during the apocalypse mode run.
![]() ![]() Collect 20 burgers |
Burgers will mainly be found in fridges or on barbeques. There are not many burgers about, but this trophy will still unlock during your first easy campaign run. It will be cumulative so if you’d rather reload a spot that has a couple of burgers together instead of continuing to look through fridges to get it over and done with then you can do that.
There are no burgers in Apocalypse Mode.
![]() ![]() Eat 10 burgers |
See Juicy Meat.
![]() ![]() Kill 100 zombies with a Headshot |
Aim for the head! This will easily unlock before you complete the game.
If playing co-op, I believe this trophy is host only.
![]() ![]() Complete the Apocalyptic Mode |
You must face this challenge alone, solo. Co-op is not n option.
Apocalypse mode is the hardest difficulty of the game. It certainly is challenging but it is still manageable once you have got to grips with it, and armed yourself with a good plan of action.
The differences are:
1. There is much less ammo about.
2. You only get one gun. A standard pistol.
3. One hit will kill you.
4. There are no checkpoints. If you die you will have to restart whichever level you were on.
Some tips:
1. Always look for and kill the runners first.
2. For runners, shoot for the legs. Setting them to crawl will completely slow them down, and SOMETIMES they will bleed out and die from that one shot. It will save ammo, and you could just walk around them once they’re down.
3. Always shut the door. If you are inside a building, zombies cant get you, but you can still shoot them through the window. (and the window won’t smash… Magic).
4. If a slow zombie is far enough away that you don’t need to kill it, then leave it and save ammo.
5. The start of each level will automatically fill your clip. So at the end of a level, if the area is clear and its safe to do so, empty your clip and pick the bullets back up, keeping your gun raised so it doesnt automatically reload to try and give yourself a few extra rounds for the next levels.
6. Each level will have a larger horde attack moment. Know your plan for when this happens, I will outline some methods below:
Apocalypse starts at the bridge
Level 2 Bridge:
You are invincible inside buildings that have the doors closed.
Level 3 Canyon:
The horde will come when you pull the lever and you see the animation of the horde pushing tanks and buses off the cliff. The lever is infront of a long walkway to the entrance of the mine/caves surrounded by railings. If you stand the far end of this right next to the mine entrance, the zombies can only come at you from straight ahead, causing a choke point, making it much easier for you to take them down not having to move your gun much. Remember to go for the legs to slow everyone down.
Level 4 Caves:
The worst level, but you’ll be ok with this technique.
So as soon as you grab the lever run thru the left tunnel and get your back against the boarded up exit, thus filtering the zombies towards you all from one direction. Be wary of a crack in the tunnel in a North-East direction from you that a couple trickle in through, especially at the start. It is also pretty dark so good luck.
Horde at the end when you turn the elevator on: Top trick to keep you safe!
Level 5 Traintracks:
On top of the train just shoot everyone in the legs and you’ll be fine. And at the end in the tunnel, is totally easy just run past them all up the right hand side and through the door, you don’t even have to kill any.
Side note: There is a big stash of ammo behind the trains where the grenade laucher was, so its hugely beneficial to grab those first.
Level 6 Refinery:
The horde will come when you have used the lever to open the gates.
I just stood next to the further away Humvee and was ok. You could try making a run for it and closing the grey door behind you, might not even have to kill any. Untested!
Level 7 Trailerpark:
A horde will come when you have detonated the explosives. On the side is a clear longer area, its nice and simple to stand at the end of here in wait, you should be fine. If not then go inside a trailer where you will be invincible.
Level 8 Sunshine Village:
A Horde will come when you exit the shop next to the green motel. Very easy just go back inside the shop. I like to go upstairs and look over the balcony, and drop a grenade on their heads while theyre all huddled together below me.

Rinse repeat, and then you will see your helicopter has arrived. Time it right for when to run from the top of the stairs to the rope!
